Teams on the rise in 2014

247Sports bring you ten teams that we expect will have a 2014 recruiting class with a significantly higher ranking than their 2013 efforts.

  • Add FSU imo

    More than likely USCw too

  • Eh, unless USCw fires Kiffin mid-season and quickly gets a new, big-name coach, I have to imagine that the uncertain coaching situation will negatively affect their recruiting.

Doubtful, they are still the #1 recruiting powerhouse in america

And unless they only sign 12 kids again I can't imagine a scenario where they don't bring in a higher ranked class

  • Don't think you have to add FSU. They're always going to recruit in the top 10 unless they have a couple/few years of sub-.500 play.

USC could be there, but too many questions surrounding Kiffy. A shame for that proud program.

  • USC will always be USC and has appeal nationally. They will continue to recruit at a high level.

Oregon will be in for a boost this year as well.

  • FSU will strongly compete for #1 in 2014. That's worth listing when they just finished 9th

  • I agree Oregon is a good candidate.

I could see USC getting into the top 10 again next year but hard to bank on it. Nothing seems to be trending in a positive direction with that program right now so hard to predict a sudden resurgence for 2014 by Kiffin after last season and close in 2013.

Is USC off sanctions for 2014, or can they still only sign 15 (18 with EEs)?

  • 2015 is their first year back I believe. They will struggle this year because their team wont be that good and it will become well known Kiffin is gone by midseason. Oregon and Stanford will take massive dumps on their chest. No reynolds wrap.

They should make a great hire though and 2015 will be ridiculous. Probably 32 signees and I bet 7 five stars if Sills is one.

    Beats me, I can't remember

I no its sooner than later though, could be off for this class

I feel like they have been on probation for awhile now

    We can sign up to 20 (15 + 5 EEs) in 2014.

  • IMO Tennessee will get back on track. There won't be 11 months of coaching uncertainty hanging over the recruiting process.

I agree, but we don't play Oregon.

If we sign a full allotment in 2014 it will be 20 followed by 25 the next season. Or we can just keep rolling back EE's for some reason like we have been.

I wonder who we would hire.

Yeah, I also re-watched the Army Game as well to get a good idea of what he brings to the table

He got scored on by that 6'7" WR Griffin, but overall he looks pretty solid

I think he is gonna have a tough time playing right away though, especially if Joyner or Brooks move back to CB

Look at the list and use some common sense. You think FSU belongs on a list with Western Kentucky? FSU should and will always recruit top 10 classes. This is about up and comers, not recruiting powers

Now, maybe Miami should be on there. Their recruiting is sad the last few years and there's lots of South Florida talent that "should" end up at Miami.

Of course, Cooper, Bridgewater, Kirkland, Thomas, Collins, etc should have been Cane "locks" from the start as well, but their brilliant staff utterly failed to do what should come easy for them.

They cant afford to screw up again if they ever want to win more than 8 games in the awesomely powerful ACC. Even Randy managed to keep lifelong Canes at home.

Ugh yes, because the name of the list is who stands to have a better class next year in terms of rank

That clearly applies for anybody that will have a better class next year, and FSU should be one of those teams cause they were #9 this year and will likely finish higher than #9 next year

Western Kentucky and its lack of prestige have nothing to do with anything lol

Its also not about up and comers, its about who will finish with a better class next year and it states that clearly in paragraph 2 right here

" As we point our attention towards the class of 2014, we take a look into the crystal ball and predict ten programs that will finish higher in the 2014 team rankings than they finished in the 2013 cycle. "
