Tennessee lands 6'10 offensive tackle.....

begging the question, will your DEs merely bull rush right through his hips, putting him on his butt or will they merely try outside moves, easily getting under his arm pits to gain leverage leaving him to tackle you for a hold or give up a sack?
Difficult choices.
Seriously, I don't want an OT taller than 6'6 unless a special player comes out.

lol, and do what? Run the most uncrisp, rounded off routes in history and cause a bunch of pick 6s probably.
Basically you gotta get him up to ~330 and put him at RT and hope he is "solid depth" for his career.

Then you don't have a clue. There's never been a 6'10 NFL OT. I think there's been 7 who were 6'9.
I can't find numbers but I bet there's been 40 that were 6'8, 100 that were 6'7, and 200 that were 6'6.

I'm saying clearly historically it does. I'd love to get the actual stats but I bet a pretty penny it plays out just like that. In terms of anecdotal understanding yeah I can imagine why you're confused but in terms of analysis those inches obviously matter.

Reach and footwork is way more important than height in today's game.

Blurb from USC's Rivals site mod/scout on Zach Banner from yesterday......Banner being considered "special" especially compared to this kid Tennessee just got......
But as you see Banner up close, you realize he's probably right at the absolute upper limits of how tall an athlete can be and still be able to play down where he needs to be to block people on the ground. Some moves he makes easily, others not so much. His legs are longer than you would have even imagined.

It still is a gradual process. 10 years ago a 6'7 OT barely had a chance unless he was a phenom. Now at 6'9 you have to be a phenom. It will be 25 more years before a 3 star (if the ranking is a real representation of talent level) 6'10 kid has a chance of doing anything other than backing up a better, ~6'6 guy.

I do agree with I would use his height at a different position though.

hed better have exceptional feet. at his size a quick end could get him crossed up pretty quick and his only chance then is to fall on the end before he gets by
