INTs for linebackers are largely the product of luck in the form of tipped balls. INTs are much more of a measurement of skill for the secondary.

Hell, even Brent and Herbie were commenting during the game about how many of Te'o's INTs came on tipped balls over the middle.

Yep, but for some reason, people think that is a great stat for a LB. I don't get it. Honestly, it's probably a better stat for the DC because unless it's a tipped ball, an INT by a LB usually happens because the defense confused the QB.

I'll say this, I wouldn't take him over Mauti for PSU. No way.

  • Te'o is a good LB, maybe a hair over hyped but I think he is a good player. All of y'all saying that he is vastly overrated are just flat wrong, whenever you have our monster O-line blocking you then you wil look pretty bad too. The only reason Minter had so much success was because of their big D-line.

Note: I do think Minter is better against the run than Te'o, so i'm not saying he is bad.

Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".

That's fine, but Bama's O-Line didn't force Te'o into those missed tackles and they didn't force him to be out of position. He isn't a bad player, but he is WAY overhyped (not just a "hair").

  • Te'o honestly wasn't even the best LB in the mid-west, it's borderline criminal that the guy was in New York for the Heisman.

Seeing Te'o play against Michigan for the past couple years has given me a good look at him. He made some plays this year, but for the most part just seemed to make a lot of tackles downfield. He's a solid LB, but not even close to the hype he was getting.

Mauti, Shazier, Jake Ryan all made more flash plays (not including lucky INT's) than Te'o in the games I saw.

  • I never understood the hype surrounding Te'o this year. Having our team play against him every season for the last four years, there was never a game he really dominated. Don't get me wrong he's a good linebacker, definitely top 10. But I agree with those that question that he's #1.

I think this was the defining moment of his career for me. When 5'7 Curtis McNeal was able to repeatedly break through his tackles in the 2011 game.

Here's one for those that think he's elite in pass coverage.

  • its very very clear that Teo simply got exposed for what he is....an above average linebacker....not worthy of a heisman or even close to that
