Manzel will never play a down in the NFL - too small. I like his story and he is exiting to watch - but one year does not make a heiseman either - voters look at a body of work. A flash in the pan is not Heisman material. A&M loses to Bama - and Manzel is not going to NYC either - you cannot say ESECPN hyped Teo and slow played Manzel - A&M beats Bama - Manzel moves from nobody to top of the list due to ESPN hype.
I'm a team guy and think individual awards are pointless in a team sport anyway. The Heisman is a popularity contest anyway.
I have said for years they should dump the Heisman because it has nothing to do with integrity and being well rounded as the rules state - past winners have been arrested and part of recruiting violation allegations prior to winning.
Manzel is 1-2 vs "then top 25 teams" when A&M played them. Is the loss on Manzel or the team? I say the team, but some will unfairly hold that against Manzel in voting.
My point is that it is just a popularity contest.

actually, his numbers weren't that bad against Florida. If you want just yards, he even had ver 300 total yards by himself against LSU as well. The only bad game he really had was LSU because of the TOs but he has not been stopped by anyone. He set the total yard in a season record in 2 less games than Cam Newton...think about that.

I agree. the heisman is the dumbest award in sports in sports. Purely hype and very little substance.
I disagree with your assessment about Manziel's pro potential. He is around 6' and 200 lbs(actually listed at 6' 1" but I think that generous) witch puts him in the same area size as Drew Brees, Mike Vick, and Russell Wilson. Heck, he probably isn't that much shorter than guys like Romo or Rodgers to be honest.
I saw the kid in person at Bama and he is legit. Kid has a very good arm also. I think people assume he can't play in the league because of his style of play and use his size as justification but people need to realize the kid is a great athlete but can also make the throws necessary.

Q: How many interceptions out of his 7 INTs does Teo have agaist QBs ranked in the top 70 in the country in pass efficiency?
A: 1. It was a ball that was popped up in the air by an OU WR who by the way was interfered with when the ND defender hit him well before the ball got there.

Lots of stupid in this thread. Teo is good but is no more deserving than Jarvis Jones. Simple way to decide this. Take out Teo and swap him with Manziel. Is ND still undefeated with Manziel as their QB? I'd say yes. Is A&M 10-2 with Teo as their LB. no where close.
