“Coming out of high school, I was just an athlete that just, whenever the guy was open, I didn’t know what I was reading,” he said. “When I saw a guy open, I threw the ball. Now, coming out of college, I learned to read defenses. I wasn’t blessed enough to be at a powerhouse that you learn that stuff as a quarterback. So, I’m working and I’m going to get good.”

Or he was just a lazy kid that tried to cruise on his natural ability instead of going the extra mile and actually take it upon himself to learn and improve. Maybe instead of getting free tatoos, he should have watched more film, or gotten some more off-season 7-on7's together.

Alex Smith has done ok in the NFL, but I don't think much (if any) of that can be attributed to Meyer. I predict a bunch of 3rd/4th-round project QBs who end up as athletes trying to catch on somehow with a team.

I'll take a bunch of 3rd and 4th round QB's. Alabama and LSU don't need 1st round qb talent to win Natties. Troy Smith was our last one. Pryor did get terrible QB coaching at OSU. He also relied solely on his athletic ability and was dumb as a rock.
