    Being drafted to fight Hitler is one thing, getting shot at over a choice of goverments in Vietnam is quite another.

    Thats the point! you swear an oath to the constitution. Not the country, not the president. You are there of your own free will, weather you agree with those reasons or not. The strength of one volunter is more powerful than 10 hired soldiers. It doesn't matter if your fighting Hitler or in Vietnam, if you make everyone serve then you are going to have a crappy armed forces along with an unhappy populace.

    it is when the taliban is our target so we essentially invade their country, and do what we want. Now were ready to leave and you think what? that we shouldn't help them defend themselves against a mutual enemy? Not give them the training that they have asked for? Not give them the means to goevern themselves more effectivley so that it's harder for the taliban to get a foothold in the country again.
