Texas A&M Names Starting QB

If hes listed at 6'-0" then you can bet he is 5'-10"

What does his arrest report from a couple months say he is?

And both of our QBs are 6'4'' around 230, gunna be fun to watch them sling the rock all over A&Ms secondary. Debose and Jordan Reed gunna blow the top off that defense

Your QB's are lucky any time they complete a pass, let's not be naive.

Yep, after Brantley went down vs Bama we we're screwed. But before he went down vs Bama, in the 1st half he was 11-16 190 yds 1 TD 1 INT. And Bama and LSU gave up their 2 longest plays of the year on defense to Andre Debose, both over 65 yd TD catches

Brantley was not passing the ball to himself. My point was that we have guys on offense that can get it done, espically vs a Secondary like yall have. A&M does not have an SEC caliber defense right now

And your vastly underestimating our Defense.. Bottom line is it does not matter what either one of us say, it's gunna come down to what happends between the lines in about 3 weeks. Until then we are just deadhorse

  • first game against Florida will not be easy...Florida's D is fast and they got that SEC speed

A&M still has a lot of Big 12 speed, just the incoming class this year has SEC speed

will take a few years to filter in the faster athletes...til then it will be a struggle obviously

  • He gets hurt if he's forced to run 15 times a game. If they don't ask him to run much, but just use him in 4-8 runs a game, he may last. Denard Robinson is about his same size, and Robinson gets hurt. But he also runs the ball 250 times a year. They won't ask Manziel to do that.

As for his talent....he's really freaking good. I went to a playoff game two years ago and it looked like he was a senior running around and throwing in a freshman game. It wasn't "man among boys" from a physical size standpoint, obviously, but it was very much that way when it came to how easy he made everything look. It was as if everyone else was operating at half speed in his eyes. He anticipated everything, he read everything, he was just on another planet talent-wise. And this was in Texas playoff football, not against some AA scrub team.

There are no guarantees that things will translate to college. But regardless of his size, he has as good a chance as anyone to be a successful QB in this league. Dameyune Craig was almost that same size and he led Auburn to within 1 point of winning the SEC in 1997, pretty much all by himself.

If they don't ask him to carry it too much, I expect he'll do well (keep in mind he's a red-shirt freshman....this year will not likely define him....check back in 2-3 years to see if he succeeded or failed).

Qft. Size at the qb position in college isn't nearly as important as it is in the nfl.

Exactly. If he's 5'11 then he will never start on Sundays but he might pwn everyone in college. You just gotta see. If TAMU has the next Chase Daniel then they're set for 4 years.

His biggest issue is the atmosphere for that Florida game. It will be so hyped in there that a RFr QB will be puking and seizuring from the adrenaline. Of course Florida's QB will have insane noise while he's actually on the field. TAMU fans need to make sure there's merely a murmur while the O is on the field.

I will say this, I think we caught a break getting them at 2 pm. I did not want to play that game at night in College Station, no matter where you are it's just a different atmosphere at night. Not saying that the crowd won't be hyped, but it's a different feel at night
