Oh, really? He was our OC and left to take the RB coach position at Texas. He was told to find another job halfway through the season. That is not up for debate, brah. If you don't believe me, go ask the mods on your board. It's 100% the truth. He was awful.

Sorry dude. Gonna call bullshit on your mods knowing anything unless they were in the presence of a meeting between Saban and Applewhite, which I doubt seriously happened. Besides, I don't give a shit about what happened at Bama. I'm just glad we got him back at Texas.

  • It works out for both parties. Bama fans are glad he's gone and don't ever want him back in any capacity. Texas fans love him. No reason to argue, both got what they want.

  • Diaz won't be gone. Neither will Mack. No one is too excited about either one staying.

Lol, that is a good one. RB coach at Texas is a better job than OC under Saban.

  • I real asshole to work for.

  • Diaz will most likely be back which is going to pretty much piss off every Texas fan here.

The biggest problem is that he refused to go away from stacking LBs behind DTs and blitzing the same guys with the same stunts over and over. Even after just lining up and going well just by being better athletes seemed to work he would go back to multiple stunts and blitzes that didn't work, and continued to make calls that befuddled pretty much all of us.

His defenses show flashes of brilliance, but its been so inconsistent this year. We went from the top ranked defense in the conference to almost dead last only in front WVU and Baylor.

It's been really frustrating watching his defense this year to be honest. Can he turn it around and have a decent year next year? It's up in the air at this point because we're losing our two senior leaders and replacing Kenny and Oakafor isn't going to be easy.

  • Applebee was a terrible OC. Glad Saban told him to kick rocks.

  • lol @ the Texas fans who think Applewhite wasn't fired at Bama...It is completely normal for a OC of a major program to take a step down for no reason at the end of the season.

When they work for Saban? Sure. Especially when they are going back to their alma mater. Applewhite's aspirations are higher than OC at Alabama. Isn't Alabama where Texas schools go when they want to raid coaches?

His aspirations are higher than OC @ Alabama...so he takes a step down and goes to Texas.. Makes tons of sense.

Head coaches at Alabama end up at places like A&M. Not sure if Applewhite will ever get the head coaching job at Texas, but he has put himself in a position to have a chance. Smart move on his part.
