Texas vs Ohio State - home/home scheduled

  • f* yeah! that was a great series - glad to have them back on the schedule!

AUSTIN, Texas – Two of the most storied programs in college football history will meet again as The University of Texas and The Ohio State University have agreed to a future home and home series. The Buckeyes are slated to travel to Austin on Sept. 17, 2022 while the Longhorns will head to Columbus on Sept. 16, 2023. Texas and Ohio State last met at the Tostitos Bowl in 2009.

The two schools with a combined 243 years of college football history and 1,693 all-time victories didn’t meet on the football field until 2005, but the Longhorns and Buckeyes have played three times since. No. 2 Texas knocked off No. 4 Ohio State, 25-22, in Columbus en route to the 2005 BCS National Championship. The No. 1 Buckeyes returned the favor, claiming a 24-7 win over the No. 2 Longhorns in Austin on its way to a BCS National Championship game berth in 2006. No. 3 Texas met No. 10 Ohio State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl following the 2008 season. The Longhorns came from behind to win that one, 24-21, on a Colt McCoy to Quan Cosby 26-yard TD strike with 16 seconds remaining.

Texas currently ranks second on the NCAA all-time wins list (862) while the Buckeye’s stand fifth (831). The Horns rank second on the NCAA all-time bowl games chart with 50 while OSU’s 42 are tied for ninth. The two programs all-time winning percentages of .717 (Texas) and .715 (Ohio State) rank fifth and sixth, respectively, in NCAA history.

UT is about to get murdered by the likes of LSU, OSU, Bama, and the other big boys.. Maybe this will get Mack's seat hot since the .500 record the last 3 years isn't. When was the last time UT beat a ranked opponent?

  • I give both schools credit for scheduling the series but get back to me in 2020 when it's within a couple years of happening. Things like this are always subject to change. Way too much will/could happen between now and then. Conferences could change again, very likely that both current staffs look dramatcially different and with the playoff and how it grows, both schools could decide the games are just not worth the risk. Any future opponent not within the next 3-4 years is on thin ice because of possible changes.

Have to disagree. Nastiest, rudest fans ever at osu. Night game, folk dringing all daymade for some unfortunate times. Their pres. apologised for his school in a letter to our pres. Powers.

Appologize for that. I was there all day and i remember having a great time with some Texas fans but as the night wore on i do remember seeing some beer bottles flung at Texas buses and the such. I really didn't see much BS talking but i was pretty drunk by gametime. If you have watched any games this year during the day where TOSU fans are pretty much quiet all day then watched the night game last week where it was nuts i think we can agree that the kids get more time to drink and that is never good for opposing fan bases.

I still remember when the game was pretty much sealed and texas had the ball at our goalline and he made a play to stop them from scoring and give us another play from the 1 yard line or something. As USC can attest it was hard to stop V young but we sure did give a good effort. Young was fun to watch. He was just such a massive human being, you couldn't miss his Read plays. Solid offense there

they have a pretty rough t-shirt base, but the ones who traveled here were great. only recall one incident/arrest.

17 commits, 1 from texas. that 1 was not offered by texas. 2 offers in texas total for the buckeyes. 5 offers in texas for 2014, w/ zero chance on 4 of the 5. 2012 - 0 commits from texas. 2011 - 0 commits from texas. looks very major.

UT is about to get murdered by the likes of LSU, OSU, Bama, and the other big boys..
wake me up when texas doesn't get the vast majority of the players texas wants. 2013 - 5 of top 10 are texas commits, 3 of the top 20 are committed oos. 2012 - 5/10, 13/25 committed to texas, 4/25 oos. good oos programs will always get top talent out of texas because the horns can only take so many, and not every kid grows up loving texas. recruiting is not something i'm worried about.

You forgot to add tOSU one commit from Texas (Barrett) would be a UT commit right now if offered. We should have offered but that's a whole other conversation.

What's Mack's record the last 3 years? Was talking more about the 2014 class more so than this year. Tony Brown, Ed Paris, and Watkins are just a few kids that I don't see staying in Texas. Pretty sure those 3 have offers. Who was ranked? What's UT's record the last 10 games against ranked teams? FWIW I did pick you guys to beat OU..
