Texas will refuse to play A&M in the cotton bowl

You simply haven't a clue. If you want pageantry, you think of the great rivalries: Texas/OU, Texas/Arkansas. Texas stopped playing Arkansas when they left the SWC. We did not skip a beat. They dropped off of the college football map. Twenty years later they still don't have a rival. If you want to resurrect a rivalry, it should be Texas/Arkansas. Texas/A&M has never come close to that rivalry. We scheduled a home and home with them. Unfortunately, it was such a beatdown they keep "postponing" the second game. Shame.

So did your band spell out Arkansas and thanks for the memories when Arkansas left?

Of course, Arkansas has been to a BCS bowl more recent than Texas and they can beat Kansas St as well.

I would seriously doubt that. This was a heated rivalry and there was some true hate on both sides. Both teams were usually highly ranked when they met and each spoiled national championship runs for the other.

It could happen. My biggest problem with the BCS is that the top 8 should go, period.

which is why after the season ending BCS "shakedown" the Bowls will have a few "named" classics.

Oh, so you mean 40-50 years ago.

I know Texas wouldn't have been in the same sentence as National Championship from the mid 70s through the end of the century.

sorry but 3's a crowd in the BCS

BCS Automatic Qualification, At-Large Eligibility coffee
No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.

I understand, but I have a problem with that. The best teams should always go no matter what conference.

If you're asking about the last time that Arkansas was relevant in college football, then yes, approximately 40 years ago. Of course, Texas has always been relevant. We have a much better win loss record than your sorry ass school since 2000. Of course, we are also 8-1 against Alabama.
