The Braves need to trade and acquire

  • Alfonso Soriano. The Cubs are currently shopping him and are willing to pay most of his $18 MM per year salary through the 2014 season. Would be the best trade Wren would have ever made and potentially offset the money they are losing with Uggla. Soriano is currently worth $12 MM, based on his current numbers and projections.

It would give Atlanta a huge upgrade in LF, be able to move Prado back to the INF where he belongs, and could use Chippers contract to hopefully resign Bourn to a longterm deal. The best part of it all, Soriano wouldn't be a rental since Atlanta would have him for two more years and only pay a portion of his contract.

  • Don't make this deal Wren, don't do it.

Oh he won't because it would be a good one. He will only trade for a 3 month rental or bottom feeder bats what in no way help the team make a postseason run.

  • No thanks on Soriano no faith that he would continue to contribute this year much less in the future

Umm, so he would contribute to the Cubs but not the Braves....who are in contention for a division crown?

Let's see, so you would rather keep Prado out of position in LF and do what next year at 3B? smdh....is that you Frank? Gonna put Juan Francisco out there as an every day guy? Wow if you aren't Wren, then glad you don't run the team.

Guessing you stick with Diaz and Hinske in LF and put Prado at 3B....yea smart move.

His WAR is much better than any guy would could even think about putting in LF. He is fourth among all OF in baseball when it comes to defense and 21st in WAR.

What Atlanta does prior to the trading deadline will make or break their organization for the next 2-3 years. They don't need bottom line-up bats as Wren keeps suggesting. Uggla, at $13 MM per, isn't close to producing his contract and getting Soriano for $9MM or less a year for two more years would offset some of that damage. Plus we are getting another RBI machine to hit in the 5th or 6th spot in the lineup would solidify our team over the next few years, at least offensively and defensively

  • This doesn't sound half bad on the surface.

I'll look into more and tell you what I really think.

It's mind bottling to me how you're not running a MLB team fingergun.

The Braves are going hot and heavy on Greinke and would probably try to resign him after the season. However, he is going to command between $15-18MM per year, which is what Bourn will be asking as well. I hope I am wrong, but I don't believe for a second that Atlanta, if they do land Grienke, would throw two high contracts to keep both Greinke and Bourn. They are way too cheap. It isn't going to happen and won't happen IMO.

And you probably think Uggla is worth every cent we are paying for him. Good lord how do fans support mediocrity and a cheap owner.

No, I don't. I also don't act like world is ending after each loss during a season where the best teams lose 62 times per year or more.
