Really, you feel obligated to make sure folks understand what they believe?

Sheesh, never mind. It's a message board, I enjoy the banter. For most Christians they have been told that God is real and some believe and some dont and that Christ is the only way to be reconciled to Him. I enjoy seeing how people react when the actual sociocultural history of religion is explained to them. Like I said, MOST of the 60B Homo Sapiens had a deity and a metamyth that they believed because their sphere of influence did. That's all that has occurred in today's time as well.

To be a Muslim, Jew, or Christian you have to honestly say that even though your faith comes from the same dynamics everyone else's ever has come from yours is right just because....

There are cave paintings depicting religious beliefs that are 20+k years old. Panbabylonian Mythology such as the Epic of Gilgamesh IS the parent religion of Judaism. Read up

  • Quick Google search shows Hinduism may be Slightly older than Judaism. So I stand corrected. Doesn't mastter as far as my faith though.

    But they don't still exist.

I would also point out that the God of Jews and Christians is the oldest God on Earth in the human belief context. There is not a religion older than Judaism, and Christianity is just a spin off of Judaism based of the death of Jesus Christ.

False. Judeo-christian religions are merely spinoffs and incorporations of Egyptian sun worship and Sumeric religious texts, which came before both of them.

I'm sorry but you make it sound as if you are going to tell Christians there are other religions that believe in other Gods, and that person's mouth with drop open and they will stutter and stammer, and say "really? Tell me more." I think most already understand that.

And yet you all claim that your religion is the "truth".

    But they don't still exist.

The religion you believe still exists because the culture has survived nothing else. Why did Christianity cover the planet 60 years ago? Because the Romans were made Christian after 312AD, Catholicism essentially enslaved Western Europe to their belief system and then Western Europe, namely Britain, imperialized America and much of Africa, Hong Kong, etc.

The fact that you would use sustained adherence as an argument point baffles me.

So you are fine with the Mt Everest like heap of hubris necessary to say that you are right and everyone else is wrong. Despite your faith being based on a book that is a shameless regurgitation of stories that were pumped out of the Middle East 8 thousand years ago?

lol. Yeah, I'm fine with whatever argument you present. I've lived it a life time, I experienced it a lifetime. I believe what I believe, and know what I know. A lot of experiences in my life have tested and ultimately strenghtened my faith. I'm not trying to hurt your feelings, but you ain't one of those experiences. If there were any words that could come out of your mouth and make me question my faith in any way, there really wouldn't be much to my faith to begin with, would there be?

You mean like how you are right and everyone that has ever believed in a higher power, which would be the vast majority of everyone that has ever inhabited this planet, is wrong? Hubris indeed.

I am not inherently atheist, I know for a fact I wont be judged by Christ when I die. It's obvious. 99% of the world's historical population would be screwed. If that's the case, F him.

More intelligent would be to analyze meta-narratives. The analyses of all the religions are very interesting to read. One thing is for sure, being on the internet, having so much information available, and still believing that your culture's God is the only real one is beneath anyone I can respect. You can believe in God, but claiming Christ is so wildly myopic that I cant believe I ever did it. But hey, ignorance is bliss.

    fsufsu

  • You don't know anything for a fact, you just think you do.

If I didn't believe my cultures God was the only one, then I wound t be very much a a believer in "my" God now would I?

What does the Internet have to do with anything?

    TroyTide

  • No need to get mad over religion. People believe what they believe. I am a Catholic, but if someone is skeptical it doesn't bother me.
