  • I have long believed that FB will be irrelevant in 5 years. Zuckerberg better invest and save wisely, because before long, his company will be worthless.

  • As far as I can tell Facebook was overvalued as an IPO, should have been valued at around 80 billion perhaps less if the stock decline is any indication, and is just the leader of this current boom-and-bust tech cycle.

FB isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It's a great marketing tool and is being used by corporations more and more everyday.

    That's just me though.

Not really actually. In my masters program we had to read and evaluate the legitimacy of a paper about the fall on FB. It is actually being phased out a lot more quickly than people like yourself seem to realize. As far as a marketing tool it is extremely overrated. Companies usually use it to help evaluate potential employees like seeing what they have posted or what pictures they have on their.

FB gets you fired much more often than it gets you a job or finds you a company you are looking for.

  • What's going to suck is that the Fed can't use it's tool to lessen the effects of a tech bubble because interest rates can't any lower. Better hope the economy rebounds before a bubble occurs.

Yes but when you intentionally overvalue an IPO, you can make a lot of money shorting the stock. A lot of people were lining up to short the facebook stocks because it was pretty obvious that it was overvalued.

When banks are shorting a companies stock, while simultaneously consulting the same company and setting the IPO, these types of things happen.

Luckily we passed a big financial bill that... oh wait thats right if you are JP Morgan or Morgan Stanley, or Goldman Sachs, you can just ask Congress for exceptions and exemptions from legislation.

It must be nice to own a Senator.

    Pretty much this.
