Well at that point my folks only had our home in NC and it was WAY out. Mayberry looked like an Manhattan in comparison. It wasn't a racial thing by any means, we were just way the hell out in the boonies. There weren't many people there period.
Birmingham does have a few groups. I didn't experience anything until a friend of mine went to live with his dad and wound up involved with some group. He and three others robbed a store, the owner caught them, they shot the owner. Dwayne got 25+.
Until that point, I always believed "gangs" were an LA or NY thing and didn't even understand what exactly it was.

Knew some but wasn't doing anything with them in a illegal way unless it was just burning a L or something, and I had some friends that tried to cross that fence and ended up shot and dead.... troof
One was a really close friend who I chilled with like a week before his murder

same. i knew some dudes from living/near flint, ypsi, and detroit.
few of my friends who did that stuff ended up locked, not killed, luckily. i chilled with a few dudes that got killed, but they were just acquaintances like dudes from parties.

But I was just having a conversation the other day about being constipated. I didn't even flush it when I finally got it out. I stabbed it with a knife and put it in a pitcher so I could take it to the dumpster. There was no way it was going down. Would've been plunging for a week, minimum.
