Lol. I would assume they have a lot of people working for them?

It isn't a company :P how they make their money is on them, which could very well be shady practices.

The problem is, like most street gangs, people claim to be badasses and say they're in said gang. (crips, bloods, ms13, whatever). Some random skiddy (script kiddie) gets a hold of a remote access trojan and thinks he is king anonymous. hence the bad rep that comes from the name.

I wasn't knocking them at all. I just think it is kinda scary at the shit they can do.

Oh I know, I was just saying they do not really target the 'average internet joes' , so they straight in my book.

You don't have a server :P so no NEED to, but it wouldn't hurt you either way. All modem/router home devices have built in firewalls these days. PNP (plug n play) is what you need to be careful of. Programs send request to your router to open ports, and it does to allow them a connection, just make sure they don't leave open ports which could possibly allow malicious activity.

Word.. I will check that in the morning, thanks,

What is the best way I can check?

I am no techy, but I pickup things pretty quick, I have a bunch of nerds for friends, lol

just let me know, Id be more than willing to run a scan and let you know if there is anything you should be weary of. Usually isn't the case, though. More than often it is business with CRM servers and such which leave malicious TCP ports open due to people needing remote access.

DoS = denial of service. Singular form of the ddos I mentioned earlier. Instead of many IPs sending packets it is only one. Just like they can knock websites offline, they can knock end users offline as well, leave that enabled.

DMZ is to RARELY be used. DMZ = demilitarized zone. Basically whichever device IP you put in the DMZ is outside of any network firewall and open for business, so to speak. Only needed if you cannot forward ports necessary to run something on the said device, when done with use, take it out of the DMZ.

Bet. Got it. I do not game at all, yet anyway.. I do not have any kind of 'system' (Other than my laptop, obviously) , yet.

The jist I got was DMZ was directed more toward a gaming thing? I may be off base?

Yea gaming if your router PNP doesnt function properly. Sometimes torrents, usually the PNP on routers keeps the need to DMZ anything to a minimal. Unless you're trying to run a server to connect to external sources (such as a botnet, lol) you most likely won't need it.

It wouldn't hurt anything, certainly, but as long as it is functioning properly I wouldn't bother it :) if it ain't broke dont fix it still applied to technology.
