Plasma actually has the fastest response time typically. Overall though I would go with LCD. There is a reason that most PC gaming monitors are LCD.

I have always leaned toward LED? you don't like?

Depends on the size you are looking. But yeah you can get a good TV for that price. They have really dropped in price in the last few years.

A lot of my stuff is Samsung as well. Everything except my PC monitor.
I like them and Sony but Samsung is a lot more reasonably priced compared to Sony. Sharp makes awesome TVs too.
