It's sad all the WW vets are almost gone. I know in America Veterans day is huge, but our Remembrance day feels like it is loosing significance which is fucking stupid.
Kids just don't get by my age (21) often they had been in war for 2, 3, or even 4 years. I can tell you one thing, I would not have the sack to do what they did. Shows what our generation is made of compared to them.

my great unc actually worked for boeing and went over to japan and taught them how to make planes before ww2

I got to meet a man by the name of James Maggelas. He is one of the most decorated officers of WWII. I read a few books about him and he was a hell of a man. When I met him (literaly right after a deployment) he shook my hand and thanked me for my service. I told him that what we did was nothing compared to what he faced. Combat now days, is for the most part, pussified when you compare it to what these guys did. Very rarely do we get into hand to hand combat any more. Back then that was the norm. I have the utmost respect for those guys.

Check out operation market garden. They crossed the Wahl river which was essentially a suicide mission and succeded. The guy I was talking about was actually depicted in "a bridge to far".

Time to watch a few episodes of Frasier then go to sleep. Series showed up on Netflix and I've never watched it before. 200+ episodes and I'm only on episode 5 of season 1. Might be done come football season.
