The More Malzhan Does, The More I Am Down With The Hire

  • He has been going non stop since he got here. Love the coordinator hires. Our players were recruited for this system and most of then know it. He's honestly just what AU needs.

I promise you things will be different. We were running a pro style offense with spread guys. When you run a pro style offense, you have to have a goof defense. We don't. So instead, we've chosen to go with the 4-2-5, which is a spread killer. You'll win next year for sure, you have manziel and he's one hell of a player but it won't be like this year. I've never seen an Auburn team quit like this, unbiased Alabama fans will even tell you that Auburn has always been known as a team that is going to knock the shit out of you on offense and defense. Yeah Auburn will win 8, 9, 10 games a year and go undefeated every 10 years, or so, but Auburn never gets blown out like that. So to compare us to Baylor, with a history of beatdowns that Texas A&M has is comical.

    Good Day Sir.

Sorry, but you are drinking too much of the kool aid in my opinion. I am not liking several of the hires or potential hires I am hearing. Yoxall gets fired, but his apprentice at Auburn is apparently going to be hired to replace him. I am also hearing the offensive line coach is going to be a guy who worked for Sylvester Croom at Moo State. The wide receiver coach who is apparently going to replace Trooper is a nobody as well. Personally, I think all of those hires suck donkey balls if they come to fruition. If all those hires do come to fruition, I am afraid Auburn is going to be looking for a new head coach in 3 or 4 years.

Even Ellis Johnson has been overblown in my opinion. He is a good coach, but he is not the miracle worker some people are making him out to be. After all, Malzahn's offense scored 35 and 56 points against his defense in 2010

I am starting to agree with this. Malzahn's grand plan appears to be to reunite the coaching staff Sylvester Croom had at Moo State and mix in a few other nobodies as well.

You can't say pro style is that much different than the spread. If its the wishbone and the spread, yes, it's different. Having one guy (the quarterback) make different reads isn't that alarming.

I get your enthusiasm but what has he done to change your opinion? Werent you expecting him to come in, work hard, hire some coordinators, fire some staff, visit some recruits, hire some staff, talk about change etc etc?

Just wondering. After all he was the 5th or 6th choice at best by most accounts. I would expect most fans to be excited, obviously, but what has changed your opinion?

So you have more athletic wide receivers and running backs in one as opposed to the other???

This team's culture is so wrong, that in two days you could tell there is a difference.

Outsiders, I'm not surprised you don't get it. Maybe he won't win immediately, but there are great crevices in this team that need to be bridged before anything else.

Lets see... Lets swap Alabama's personnel and Oregon's.

Alabama is not built for the spread. The QB isn't a threat to run. Too big to go fast paced the whole game on offense and defense. Look at them in the second half of the TAMU game. Their entire defense is hands on heads trying to catch air.

Oregon would get raped trying to run the I formation. Too small.

Dude, there is a huge difference... even in strength and conditioning.
