Just wondering. After all he was the 5th or 6th choice at best by most accounts. I would expect most fans to be excited, obviously, but what has changed your opinion?

I would agree with this. The hire leaves a lot to be desired IMHO but I have to hand it to him for what he's done so far. Then again it's like someone said, this is what he's supposed to do. At the very least though I commend him for attempting to wipe the slate clean and bring a new culture to AU.

Auburn could have hired any D2 coach or Tony Franklin and when he came in, he would have done the same things Gus is doing. Jesus Christ. New coaches generally wants their own guys. Whatever PM or Trooper was saying about re-interviewing with the new coordinators was monkey dung. That was never going to happen. What the hell is Gus doing that's so ground breaking? Derrick Dooley did the same things.

Lol. The man was absolutely one of the best in CFB without a doubt. Our new DB coach is a WAY better recruiter than Cooper but I haven't seen enough of him to know if he's a better coach.
I don't know if it's Cooper's fault, the talent or the DC in Tampa but the Bucs have the worst pass D in the NFL.. But the best run D.. If Tampa keeps having the worst pass D in the NFL, Cooper might not be there very long.
Who did you guys hire as your DB coach? (I wasn't paying attention)
Oh and your posts have been a lot better lately.. Some good, objective football talk from you with some well thought out posts.. I like it brutha
