    Just going by what I saw. 4 scorers basically playing entire time, no real bench, almost no bench scoring

    Assuming we'll see that same strategy on Sunday

    Did UM really only have 4 scorers?

    That's an interesting mix of very impressive and potentially disastrous, IMO. What do you UM guys honestly think about it?

    What if one of those guys gets injured? Or, perhaps more likely, what if Stauskas gets a little tired come the end of the season, and his shot struggles because of it? I'm not wishing either of these on UM (other than shooting struggles against the good guys), but they have to be concerns, right? Even if only mild ones?

    Maybe I'm just so used to MSU's style, where we usually don't rely so heavily on 4 guys to score. Idk, what do you guys think?

    Yes. Robinson, Stauskas, Burke, and Hardaway. McGary's 2 points don't count because its contrary to Cope's point.

    Nebraska ran an even tighter bench. Their coach used his timeouts well to give his starters a breather, which also gave the Michigan starters a breather.

    As for the scoring, the offense doesn't run through the Morgan or McGary and the guards Albrecht and Levert missed their shots.

    Michigan had one of their worst offensive games of the year, and they won by 15. I am almost suprised that cope isn't pointing out how the Michigan defense held Nebraska to 33.9% from the field. He said that was the more important than the offense scoring...

    With the regular season just over half finished (16 games), Stauskus is shooting 46-88 52% from the 3-point line. He is taking 5.5 shots per game. With 15 regular season games left, Stauskus would have to shot these following numbers to get the following averages.

    To shoot 50%, he has to go 40-83 (48%) for the rest of the season.
    To shoot 45%, he has to go 31-83 (37%) for the rest of the season.
    To shoot 40%, he has to go 23-83 (28%) for the rest of the season.

    Why did only 7 MSU players take shots? Are you concerned about the lack of depth on the team?

    I think the reason is Nebraska clogged the middle in an effort to take away any easy buckets from the inside. The did a good job of pressuring the ball too. I don't remember too many wide open shots. And obviously is was a cool night for the shooters.

    Can it be reproduced? Sure, if you pressure the ball, take away the inside, and hope Morgan, McGary, Albrecht , and Levert combine for 1 make on only 9 shots between the 4 of them.

    Nebraska dictated the tempo for the whole game practically. It seemed to throw Michigan off of their game a bit, and ultimately led to Michigan's four best players doing all of the scoring. I don't think that Michigan will normally let other team's set the tempo though, so unless this becomes a pattern I'm not particularly worried.

    Yes, we had our worst shooting night of the year and didn't lead by 20-something early. Prior to last night, our worst shooting night was still better than the national average, so that's something to keep in mind.

    If we had only 4 scorers multiple games early in the season, I would be concerned. As is, we've played 16 games before this happened, have 4 guys averaging double figures, the #1 offensive efficiency in the country, Morgan & McGary are cleaning up the glass, and we have solid back-up play from Lavert, McGary, Spike and Horford could've played last night, they're just being safe with him.

    It was a bad shooting night against a team that really wanted to slow the game down. It was a 57 possession game, our lowest of the year. I'll take a 15 point win on an off night, even if it is Nebraska.

    I think you're onto something here. Nebraska has laid the blueprint. If Izzo studies the film closely and copies what Nebraska did, there's no reason you guys can't lose by 15 points, too.

    Most were good answers. A couple of you seemed genuinely annoyed that I asked an honest question (MrWood, xxmgo). But that's fine, no problem. I was just asking b/c it struck me as unusual. I guess I hadn't realized that there was a full 6 ppg difference between the 4th and 5th scorers on the team. Admittedly, that could be perfectly normal, I'm really not sure. It just struck me as odd, so I figured I'd ask about it.

    I didn't realize that a couple of you would be so defensive about it. My bad.

    To answer your question about that, yes, I did find it extremely odd that only five players scored for MSU. Trice had a rare off-night and Valentine didn't score either. I would be shocked if that happened again. If it did, however, I'd immediately start looking for similarities between that game and the Texas game, and see if this was something that MSU may struggle with in the future.

    and I think likewise.....if Michigan has 4/5 guys score against OSU or any other team in the near future, it would be something to delve into more. As it is, it's apparently an anomaly.

    I would think that the similarities would be a close game. The closer game the tighter the rotation. They happen, to all teams. Should we be looking for them in the future so that they can be pointed out so that the concerns can be addressed? Is 5 scorers the cut off? Is 6 borderline? 7 good to go? 8 means there is a ton of depth on the team?

    Exactly. I'm surprised they aren't questioning Alabama's offense in the BCSCG because Lacy and McCarron were responsible for so many of their points. I guess this is what Sparty fans have been reduced to after watching how mediocre their own football and basketball teams have become. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.
