ND still holds some cards. They will bid themself looking for the best deal possible.

TBH I'm not sure we even need ND if we get RU, MD, UVA, UNC, GT and MIA. If you look at a map of BCS schools and a list of major TV markets, we will have a presence in every market ND could possibly bring except Texas and the West Coast. ND would be gravy.

I did also, but nothing we can do about it except yell at some clouds.

Those clouds can expect a lot of verbal abuse from yours truly . . .

Ga. Tech would be kind of cool; MSU recruits GA and that could help snare some bigger fish.

Plus it'd be fun to have a triple option team in the conference.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

ND adds nothing to the B1G, market wise. All the other conferences would love to add them though, with what their footprint brings in.

I'm not saying the B10 does not want ND, but they are less incrementally valuable to us now that we are at 14 than they were when we were at 11. ND would have brought much of the same Northeastern markets RU and MD are expected to bring and would have allowed us to add a CCG game the way Nebraska did. But now that we have added those three schools, ND's incremental value to the B10 is less. And if ND waits until we go to 16 by adding UVA and UNC (or whichever remaining ACC teams you assume), ND's incremental value to the B10 will drop further. At this point, they probably are more valuable to the B12 or P12 than they are to the B10 or SEC. In fact, my guess is that ND ends up in the P12 when all the dust finally settles.

Eighteen team B10. Three geographically sane divisions of six teams each. Nine conference games (5 in-division and 2 from each other division). No guaranteed cross division rivals. Top two teams (based on B10 record) play in BTCCG.

B10 EastND* PSU MIA or GT UNC UVA MD

B10 CentralOSU UM MSU RU PU IU

B10 WestUNL WI IA IL NW MN

    * If ND refuses, B10 takes both MIA and GT. Additional "backup" picks could include Duke, Syracuse, BC, VT and NCSt.

I doubt it goes over 16 teams, and ADs will never vote on 9 game conference schedules.

It's an issue, but at some point the TV money makes up for the extra home game you have to give up every two years. And they might be pushed to nine conference games just being at 16. I don't think they want to go to nine, but it's getting harder and harder to stay at eight.

ND beats Bama or Georgia, they won't need anybody. I frankly am shocked at the ND lids and hoodies I'm seeing in the D and southeast Michigan on kids and adults. That happened fast.

ND doesn't need anyone now. They have fallen behind a handful of top programs in revenues, but that ebbs and flows and they should jump back up into the top group with their next TV contract. IMO that is why Delany has decided to move on without them. Delany is expanding the B10 footprint based on the assumption the B10 will never get ND. The SEC is doing the same. Only the ACC and B12 are sitting around right now thinking it's only a matter of time before the land the Irish. Amateurs.

Serious question: do you think MSU would have won the MAC this year?

    I have my doubts.

UM VS ATM sounding like a lock in the Cap One now. This will be my first time ever rooting for UM. Any tips?

Would be funny to see florida, oregon, or oklahoma told to stay home because a bowl has to take Kent State instead lol

i'm maybe 80% sure that they would win the MAC, but it's very sad that i'm not 100% sure.

Hold your nose. Btw, I bet when the game starts you can't do it. Just watch. I've only been semi-able to do it when they play ND. If they had to win to help us maybe. Then I just wouldn't watch the game.

If wisconsin wins, UM can't be in the Cap One bowl. TAMU is pretty much locked in though

  • Syracuse at Arkansas tonight at 7:30 on ESPN. Sold out Bud Walton Arena (20,000). Michigan fans remember that place. I bet Syracuse and Michigan demolish the Hogs. Oh well... still gonna watch the game in 15 minutes. hawgrun

Furthest western state in the eastern time zone. On lake Michigan in late June the western sky is often still blew at 10:30 pm.

When max bullough's grandpa Hank started coaching in Buffalo years ago it was a lot darker at 8pm there in august then it usually is in Michigan at 8 pm. The buffalo reporters quoted him as saying "man it gets late early out here."
