Fans say stupid things. Only the coaching staff knows all the facts and only the coaching staff has talked it through with him. Every situation is different. The coaches are not going to take anyone if they think he will turn into a problem down the road. The coaches have apparently spoken to both Conley and Dawson and are still willing to recruit both of them. That's good enough for me. It's not like one of them killed or raped someone. Whatever happened in each case, they worked through it with the coaching staff. I'm very ok with that.

Me too brother, me too. Now, let the lads travel, and let them be teenagers. I really think all the pressure, and travel and outside stuff resulted in Shane Morris getting Mono, and wearing the kid down. Just let kids be kids. I know it's huge money, and big time sports, and alumni with billions of dollars, but these kids are kids, adn it's part of becoming a man, making mistakes and making choices.

I know this is a recruitng site and you all love this stuff, it's what made me decide not to be a grad ass years ago. Don't have the stomach for it. I do know it's necessary, and when done right, it's a great experience for the kid. I would not have joined this site had I not been addicted to the RCMB before we joined here.

They can travel all they want. They just can't commit to UM and turn around and go on recruiting visits to other schools. Do your homework. Take whatever visits you need to take. When you know where you want to go, make a commitment and stick to it. We don't take reservations at UM. We aren't a rental car company.

Mark_Schlabach: Filed to #ESPN: Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema agrees to deal w/ #Hogs but wants to coach #Badgers in Rose Bowl

MrWoodson nailed it yesterday, the SEC is willing to pay for the best coaches, even if they are douches. There is no way Wisconsin couldn't have match the Arkansas offer. B1G needs to step up.

Sidenote, who is committed to Wisconsin that might waver? There is a 2014 DT that is supposed to be pretty good.

Glad he's gone. Guy was a dick. I hope Wisky gets another good coach, but one without the dickish behavior.

Probably an attribute that will serve him well in the SEC.

Yeah, sure, he'll coach Wisconsin in the Rosebowl. I'd have his shit thrown out of the office immediately.

What was his record against Dantonio? MSU?

Against MD: 3-4. Won twice in Madison (2007, 2009) and in the CCG. Lost three times in EL (2008, 2010, 2011) and lost in Madison this year. Wisky has lost to MSU each of the last 3 years, the only Big 10 team to be undefeated against them in the time frame that's played them 3 times, IIRC.

The teams did not meet in 2006, Bielema's first season (12-1).

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Pat Narduzzi not one of the finalists for the Boston College HC job per Brett McMurphy on ESPN. Good news for MSU

All is not lost. There's a new job opening in Wisconsin.

Cincy and Cal too. He supposedly interviewed for Cal, and Butch Jones is about to leave Cincy.

I don't know what i'd do if Narduzzi ended up at Wisconsin.

Absolutely. This is all about money. UM was one of cheapest major programs around when it came to paying coaches until the Great Brandon showed up. Now we are competitive. OSU has paid its HC well for awhile, but not its assistant coaches. That changed when Urbie was hired. Even MSU recently bumped up its DC comp significantly. You can't lure and keep top coaches if you consistently pay them less than they can get elsewhere. And the B10, as a conference, still pays less for coaches (significantly less) than the SEC.

Brett wants to step it up and try to win a NC. He can coach better players than the B10 can draw. Smart move for him.

More $$$ and better talent at Arkansas. Why stay in Wisconsin?

Plus he probably feels as strongly as I do about the B10 expansion on how much it blows. B10 is going down the tubes.

And talent and prestige...he has a better shot at a NC down at Arkansas.

Plus, if you can't beat them why not join them?

It's when a player has made a commitment but doesn't want to make it public yet. Sometimes, they just want to announce it on their own terms (i.e. hat dance at AA game). Sometimes it is for another reason (i.e. a kid doesn't want to be hassled for choosing someone other than the popular local school). But it has nothing to do with the Dawson or Conley situations. They made public commitments. Later, they changed their minds and wanted to withdraw their commitments and reopen their recruitments. Neither situation has anything to do with a silent commitment.

That's all just opinion. We can look at how much he gets paid. That's a fact. And like everything else in life, most people will choose more money over less money all things being equal. The rest is just you projecting your opinions and biases onto Brett Bielema. You have no way of knowing what he thinks about his chances of being successful at Arky vs Wisconsin. It is pure fiction you have created in your mind.

There's plenty of stats to support my statements. Mainly BCS championships. The SEC rules CFB.

Today was another blow to the B10. Get used to a future of Ohio State fattening up on pathetic B10 teams and then getting slaughtered by an SEC team in a BCS bowl.

If the opportunities, other than money, are so much better in the SEC, why did Urbie leave the SEC for the B10?

No he doesn't. This is a money move and a slap in the face to the B1G. 3-time B1G champ, and the coach moves to a mid-tier SEC team.

Arkansas does not recruit at the level Alabama, LSU, and aTm does. That is just in their division.

Arkansas hasn't won their conference since 1989. That goes back to their days in the SWC. In their entire existence within the SEC, they have never won it. They are an also ran in the SEC. This was a pure money move, and Wisconsin should have matched it.

If the SEC jobs were inherently better, why are they forced to pay the coaches more? You would expect someone like Bielema to be willing to leave Wisky for Arky for the same amount of money if not less if it clearly is a better job otherwise. Why would you need to give him a big raise to get him to move? Bielema is moving primarily for more money (probably a lot more). Beyond that, it's anyone's guess what went into his decision.
