What's crazy is that MSU is 8th in TOP, despite being poor at converting 3rd downs on offense. D is definitely playing up to snuff statistically.
I can't believe that MSU is 108th in scoring O and still not the worst offensive power in the conference
.
A great D can make up for a mediocre O. It can't make up for a horrific O.
MSU is pretty much 1/3 of a team this year. Great D, poor O, poor special teams. You can win quite a few games if you're good in 2 of those 3 areas. Ain't going to happen if just 1 is working.

I fully expect State's offense to improve in the passing game next season, but there are no guarantees. There's plenty of examples of guys who did NOT improve that much from their first to second year. There are also guys who have regressed, for one reason or another.
It'll be interesting to see who returns next season for mSu AND Michigan.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I still think UM - MSU is a toss-up over the next few years, with the home team having the edge.
PSU is going to start feeling the sanctions hard next season. They're unable to replace the guys they've lost; that should be a Q for you guys. The odd years are great ones for UM; tOSU and NEB at home.

Bell? Does he have the speed to play RB in the NFL?
I can see Gholston, he has the measurables that the NFL drools over.
Same with Sims, but the NFL may want to see more. Sims reminds me of a Pettigrew type of TE, not a Graham or Gates type.

Adams hurt his stock, but he got a 5th or 6th round draft grade last year. Definitely had room to improve; unfortunately it didn't look like he did it.
Dennard . . . I don't know. He'll have a crazy good game, like his 2 picks vs. UGA or vs. Nebraska. Then he'll kind of do nothing for a 4-5 game stretch.

Why does he do nothing? Is he being targeted? I would throw to Adams side before I would throw to Dennards side.
For Michigan, Floyd is the senior, but he is also the one teams are targeting more often. Taylor has looked solid. (Makes me look forward to what the CB combo of him and Countess will look like next year.

Adams gave up big TDs vs. ND, EMU, tOSU and Indiana. MSU has only given up 9 passing TDs this year and he's responsible for at least 4 of them. I know Taiwan Jones blew his coverage against Wisconsin, and Mitchell White gave up the late TD against Nebraska. The other Nebraska TD was a screen pass to the RB; that's the LB's responsibility. I gotta check who got burned on the other 2 IU TDs, but I know Adams was responsible for 1.
He's settled down some, but has been far from a lock-down guy. Dennard has been more steady, but really, opponents don't throw at the CBs that much. Lots of YAC on swing passes using slot receivers and RBs; mostly the LBs job. The TE completions are on the safeties, as are the down field slot (Dileo definitely got the better of Isaiah Lewis during the MSU - UM game).

If you want an education, come back after the NFL. Johnny Adams dropped a round probably. However he can make that up at the combine. I really don't think the casual fan realizes how Adams allows narduzzi to do so many things on defense. When he makes a mistake especially if we're in one or zero it screams out. But we'll be much weaker there next year. If we lose both, the defense will cut way back next year.
BTW: I'm not convinced that Adams isn't playing hurt. Let's see what we learn after the season.

Beyond that, the games you're at, how often did our opponent throw away from Adams? How many ones and zeros did you see. Adams is a too college corner. Does that translate to the NFL? Who knows. Narduzzi will miss him next year. I think our corners made our defense these last two years. You'll notice on the two controversial plays against Nebraska martinez was not throwing at Adams. They know. If you keep a guy on an island he's going to be exposed some, but that's a damn hard spot to play. He'll be a 4th or 5th.
