Alll public schools have to have 95% of their juniors take the act and mme first week of march. They get it free, all kids have to take it, so the average scores go way down and the right wing can tell us schools are failing. When we were in school only college bound kids took it. Now ALL public school kids must take it

Well that explains it. This is our first year in public school.

Steve Alford's a good coach. He needs to come back to the B10.

My daughter takes it Saturday too. She's gonna bomb it, but I've made it perfectly clear that a crappy ACT score isn't a valid excuse for going to MSU. lol

I know. I got in. lol

We were looking at average and mean scores of incoming freshman into MSU/um/ND this fall with her. Michigans is still higher but surprisingly not a big difference. I don't know if I'd qualify for MSU now. Standards are much higher.

My son applied to Michigan, UCLA, Harvard, and Stanford. According to all the information we gathered online, he was qualified for all 4. Unfortunately, he got in to UCLA but the MFing out of state tuition if ridiculous. Stanford and Harvard have excellent financial aid programs and are more affordable than even UM and MSU, depending on you income.

She'll get to take it again in march. We're going to analyze the results then hit the parts she needs with this lady on the east side who is fairly good at raising scores. I know it's all crap now, but you have to play the game.

  • So given that Charlie Strong reportedly turned down Tennessee, does that mean the SEC is now in decline in favor of the Big East?

The way it looks, they might have to re-hire Dooley.

    All part of the plan.

We need the entire ACC to mistrust each other so that the conference crumbles. Once enough teams try to leave, the conference exit fee will be waived almost completely.

Also, I'm still not convinced that Delany isn't going after ND. Regardless of whether we have a good shot, our best chance definitely includes the ACC becoming too weak football-wise. That means we need FSU (B12), VT (SEC), Clemson (B12?), and Miami (?) to leave. UNC and GT leaving would help also.

Maybe in the 80's, but not anymore.

I went to MSU because 2/3 programs I was interested in were ranked higher, and the third was ranked 6th or 7th, while UM was 4th or 5th.

My mom suggested I apply at both, because she didn't realize MSU was a better school for my career. So I obliged. Wish I hadn't, my stupid uncle (UM grad) wouldn't stop bugging me about going there after I got accepted.

That L'ville team has a chance to make it to the NC next year. Even though no body talks about him because they play in the big east, Teddy Bridgewater is the real deal. If he was allowed to come out this Draft he would be #1 pick. Imagine how much money Strong could get next year if he takes L'ville to the NC? He's taking a gamble not taking the UTk job, but this could end up working out really well for him.

SMH. Steve, nobody was arguing that point or debating States win. The point was made about Bielema, Wisconsin, and whether or not the Arky job puts him closer to a title. Jesus you're a defensive SOB.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • I think when comparing the chance at a NC between the two programs you have to remember that Russell Wilson was probably a one in a generation player for that program.

Can the same not be said about Ryan Mallett? He led Arkansas to their only BCS bowl game in the programs history. Wisconsin has went 4 other times outside of the Wilson led one.

Okay, so if we are playing the hypothetical game and saying that Wisconsin was undefeated the last two years. The hail mary doesn't happen they win in OT and they beat Ohio state. Also, the argument that they were one win away the previous year. Let's say they put up two perfect seasons.

Out of the three Rosebowls Wisconsin has been to under Bielema they have lost two and the third one he won't be coaching and his team is an under dog with the other team heavily favored.

So even if those teams did hypothetically go undefeated in the B10 based on their Rosebowl performances do you really think they were good enough to beat Alabama or Auburn? Would those teams have been good enough to even beat the runner ups Oregon or LSU?

Based on their Rosebowl losses I don't think they could of beaten those four teams.

I think it's about a tie in terms of difficulty. Wisconsin probably give you a better chance to get to the BCS championship game (but going forth getting past Ohio State is probably as unlikely is getting past Alabama), but I don't think he's fielded a championship caliber team that can win an actual BCS bowl. At Arkansas he could probably field a stronger football team, but won't be able to beat the top dogs of the conference.
