For all the people from MSU saying they play a much harder schedule, the schedules look very similar in difficulty. Michigan MSU NC State> Kansas KSU< Uconn Pitt> Texas WVU> Miami Arkansas> ?

    Is Pitt good this year?

Holy F'ing crap, how is NC State ranked 6th!?

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I dunno, some kid from Chicago may end up at MSU. Last name's Parker? Supposed to be pretty decent. Heard Izzo isn't giving up on him, even fighting Duke and Kentucky for his services!

We only have 1 scholarship opening in 2013 from graduation. Izzo is going for arguably the best player in the nation (rumor is we narrowly lead Duke). If any additional scholarships open up, Izzo may save them for 2014, where we lead for at least 1 5* (might be #1) and are in the hunt for several others.

Izzo is currently recruiting better than he ever has.

WVU/Arkansas/Miami/BSU should not be in any SOS discussions this year. Congrats, the crappy teams on your schedule are better than the ones on ours.

    NC State = Kansas
    KSU = UConn = Pitt = Texas

There's not a lot of difference between the schedules IMO, other than differences in travel.

This is a pretty weak schedule for MSU.

You guys feeling good about Parker? I didn't think Michigan was going to get McGary with Duke after him. I believe Coach K made an in-home visit the week before his decision. I thought that locked him down. I have more faith in Beilien locking down his top targets than I did before.

Coach B is getting it done on the recruiting trail. Upgrading the facilities has been huge. Michigan basketball is here to stay.

I said it a year ago after our third straight win over Sparty ... Izzo's slowing down and his best years are behind him. He's like the Lloyd Carr of college basketball and Beilein is his Tressel.

I feel that we'll likely land him. He's been leaning green for a long time. Has a very familiar feel to Izzo's battle against Crean for Gary Harris. Izzo has yet to miss on one of his 'zoned in' targets, so I'm not inclined to think he will now (FTR, the closest he probably ever came to missing on a 'zoned in' target was probably Manny Harris). There have been rumblings for a long time that Izzo would pull out Parker, and those rumors heated up after Izzo's in-home visit with him (which was after Coach K's). Parker's parents both very much like Izzo, and Parker is a big fan too. Drake Harris also has somewhat regular interactions with Parker, and had already been a friend of his. Now he is recruiting him pretty hard.

Cliff Alexander (the 2014 recruit I mentioned in my other post) is a top 5 guy in his class, and has stated that MSU leads for him. He is good friends with Jabari, and they are on the same AAU team. There have been rumors that they have essentially recruited each other over the course of the process. Alexander cited Jabari for one of the main reasons he was interested in MSU in the first place.

Haha, you're basing your entire opinion on that Sun Times article? There was an equally insistent article suggesting Gary Harris would go to Indiana...

Harris committed to MSU within weeks.

Bold statement about a coach that can't get it done in March. If he can't put up a run soon recruits are going to stop going to Michigan.

Facilities upgrade is huge. I don't think the facilities (lockerrooms, practice facilities, and Izzo's gem; the film room) are at MSU's level yet, but there are aspects of your arena that I actually like more than the Breslin.

UM bball is here to stay, though, I would agree. I don't think that you make the Final Four with B___, but I could definitely see a sweet sixteen or two. The test, IMO, will be who UM hires after B_____, b/c that's who I think would be tasked with taking UM to the FF and winning a title.

So much disdain in your tone when discussing Beilein. You really don't like him. It must have crushed your soul to lose 3 of the last 4, and have to share a conference crown with him.

    Must be tough.

Don't shoot the messemger. I feel as bad about this as you do. If the B10 is going to remain the top hoops conference in the country, we need to maintain solid depth top to bottom. Just having IU and UM at the very top is not enough. We need solid filler teams like Wisky and MSU and Minny too. The worst thing for everyone would be if your basketball program starts to recruit like your football program. Polishing up diamonds in the rough will only get you so far.

Izzo's slowing down? From 2010-2012, he had ESPN's 10th, 17th, and 9th ranked recruiting classes. He's got a good shot at filling his lone 2013 opening with arguably the best player in the nation. He is recruiting so well in 2014 that he has a good shot at landing three 5* players (#2, #4, and #7 in the nation, per 247), and that doesn't even count 4* Drake Harris, who he helped Dantonio secure.

Izzo isn't slowing down, he's speeding up, and I think the two main motivators for that have been Draymond and B_____ getting UM back up to a decent level.

Right now we're overachieving. We're a rising program.

Now, if we get to the point where we win the regular season crown, the tournament title, AND get a Number 1 seed but then get bounced in the 2nd found, I could see your point.
