Not that it matters one iota anymore, but at least was this list put together with the illusion of academics? I know all of our schools have semi pro teams now, and we don't really give a crap about the, just win and whatever happens to you after four years good luck, but sometimes presidents insist on that illusion.
I know you young pups are very excited about this. I understand as a business owner, if you're standing still, you're falling behind. I get that. But as an old man remember the great ones like Bo, Woody, Duffy. 1 p.m. starts, and taking northwestern as seriously as OSU, I think this just blows.

What's happening to CFB now is the same as what happened to hockey in the early 90's. That was a beautiful sport prior to all the unnecessary tinkering done by the greed heads at the top trying to milk the sport for more money.
NHL blows these days, it's a completely watered down version of the sport now.
All the B10 is doing is complete dilution. You can add any team you want, it isn't going to improve the season in any shape or form.

Idk. I think the hand-wringing is overblown. Seriously, what's the difference between playing 8 B10 opponents plus 1 high profile OOC AQ opponent plus 3 meh baby seals (2 of which usually are just a regular rotation of the same MAC teams over and over) and playing 9 B10 opponents (1 of which is UMD, RU, UNC or GT) plus 1 high profile OOC AQ team plus 2 meh baby seals?

They're entirely different situations. And FWIW the NFL has expanded and reorganized its divisions multiple times and is doing fine. The NHL has always had issues. Hockey is a niche sport, yet the NHL acts like it's as mainstream as football, basketball and baseball. It's not. People in Florida and Texas and California and Georgia couldn't care less about it and that has nothing to do with reorganizing divisions.

There is no factual basis for that statement. New Jersey and Maryland are not materially different than the rest of the country when it comes to sports. Neither has ever had an instate powerhouse program to root for, but there is no reason to think they are any different than reaidents in neighboring states if they did. In every sport, fanbases are significantly energized by winning. Just like Oregon and BSU and Louisville, if Rutgers and UMD start winning they will have plenty of local fans. And just like Syracuse and Pitt and even Miami, if they fail to put a winning product on the field the fans will stop showing up. Football, unlike hockey, is a national sport.

There are no good CFB programs on the eastern seaboard. The biggest stadium on the eastern seaboard is Maryland at 54,000 which would be one of the smallest stadiums in the Big Ten or SEC. If they got fan support, there would at least be a stadium or two that seated 70 or 80K.

Army. Syracuse. Harvard. Princeton. Where do you think college football came from? It's simply a question of having a winning program. What is the size of Autzen Stadium in Oregon? How about Stanford's stadium? Do they not play good football? Would the addition of Stanford and Oregon to the B10 be equally stupid if they were geographically contiguous? And if we are going by stadium size, you might as well dump half of the teams currently in the B10. Most are under 65,000 and they don't come close to filling them up. Show me a winning program and I will show you a full stadium and strong TV ratings. It has nothing to do with what state you are in.

Stauskas won't leave for the NBA, and Zak Irvin is a high school senior right now, so he can't possibly be in the NBA next year. lol
