Totally, should at least get a BCS at-large bid. At this point, anything short of a BCS bowl should be considered a huge disappointment for UM.

I agree, but it's not because I think that Michigan will have a particularly good team. Instead they have an advantageous schedule, and a defense that continues to improve.

I would be disappointed if we don't make a BCS game next year

ND is at home. The only road games that I'm worried at all about are PSU and MSU but both teams are big question marks.

Took a gander at ND's roster. It does not appear that they're losing their entire team to graduation, especially with Zach Martin and Nix III staying.

BTW, over-looked on ND's run to success this year is the fact that they lost 0 OL starts to injury. That's impressive, and unlikely to replicate itself next year.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I mean, ND and tOSU are the 2 teams with the "raw" talent on par with what Hoke's brought in (edit: and both games are at home), MSU appears to have turned back into a pumpkin, Nebraska is @the Big House and Northwestern/sanctioned-PSU are the toughest road games? Great set-up, and Gardner can give the offense balance that it's lacked for a couple of years.

Didn't we say that about Michigan last year? I don't think they lost an OL to injury this year, did they?

Without a doubt. PSU and MSU should offer little resistance. There's just so much coming back @UM on offense and defense and with the way Hoke is recruiting, watch out.

    lol

    He's even gotten to Rocky

All of this is pointless if Michigan's OL is worse than last year however. lol

If Gardner is starting his second full year at QB in 2014 with a Deveon Smith/Derrick Green RB monster, look out.

When was the last time UM had 2 1000 yard rushers at RB? '14 could be that good, or maybe even a pair of 1200 yard rushers. Not good news for the rest of the Legends.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Naw, have you seen the guys you're bringing in? Not one of them has any bust potential.

    Big question.

4 new starters.. more talented? probably.. but overall ready to step forward being so young and, for the most part, inexperienced? probably not.

Those kids are already physically developed; Kalis could have played this year but didn't have to. They're going to resemble Stanford, probably starting in '13, but definitely by '14, on the OL.

I do think LTT has bust potential, but I personally don't think he will be a bust.

Dawson, Bosch, Fox, Kugler and potentially Hunt, teamed with some of the guys (Braden, Magnuson, Kalis) from last year don't have bust potential, I agree with you there. They all have mean streaks and their talent is apparent.

UM lost to Iowa in 2011.. Iowa wasn't in the top 25.

Iowa 2011 was a crap load better than what they are now and we are also a lot better than 2011.

This point has been beaten to death by Michigan fans, but hopefully Michigan's interior lineman next year are better at run blocking. It doesn't matter if Michigan gets Green if he ends up having 3 guys in the backfield on every other play.

Iowa shouldn't even be on UM's radar anymore. Clump them in with IU/PU/Minny/IL.

However Joey Burzynski came in and IMO played better than Omameh. I think we will have some struggles, but not that bad.

We played 5 ranked teams in 2012 and 2 ranked teams in 2011 I bleieve. We also had only 6 home games this year. Anyone could see the progress we've made in the Outback bowl. It's unfortunate that Countess and Floyd couldn't play. It was difficult for our 3rd and 4th best CBs to cover Ace Sanders.

And by progress you mean of course, giving up 420 yards of offense and 30 points to a top 10 opponent while losing

Really though- while UM looked decent- it's hard to take that game as stepping stone for next year as Denard was the RB the entire game.. Gardner had his moments, but still only completed 50% of his passes with a 5.9 yards per attempt.
