There goes that easy 2014 schedule we had. Schedules are going to have to be redone.

Would be hilarious if Delany punked UNL again. lol

    MrWoodson

  • Hopefully this will be a way to UM and tOSU in the same division.

    Michigan
    Michigan State
    tOSU
    Indiana
    Minnesota
    Purdue
    Illinois

    Wisconsin
    Nebraska
    Northwestern
    Rutgers
    Maryland
    Penn State
    Iowa

    Because screw geographical conferences.

Michigan Michigan State tOSU Indiana Minnesota Purdue Illinois

Wisconsin Nebraska Northwestern Rutgers Maryland Penn State Iowa

I want the divisions something like this

    Bad Division Name 1
    Ohio State
    Michigan
    Penn State
    Indiana
    Illinois
    Rutgers
    Iowa

    Bad Division Name 2
    Nebraska
    Michigan State
    Wisconsin
    Northwestern
    Minnesota
    Maryland
    Purdue

    Protected Rivalries
    Michigan-MSU
    Ohio State - Wisconsin
    Nebraska - Penn State
    Purdue - Indiana
    Northwestern - Illinois
    Rutgers - Maryland
    Iowa - Minnesota

Then you get to keep the traditional rivalries of Michigan-OSU, Wisconsin-Minnesota in the division, MSU gets to play the budding rivalry with Wisconsin every year, same with OSU-Wisconsin, and Michigan-OSU becomes even bigger because it will most likely have division implications

Are we sure the other team is Rutgers? I'd rather have Syracuse for the basketball (and lax).

Me too. Syracuse is a better deal.

I think they should just bite the bullet and go to 16 with four divisions of 4 teams each. We are all headed there anyway. Go to nine conference games (3 in division and 2 each from the other three divisions) and have semi-finals and a final amongst the four division winners to pick a champion.

So wait this is really going to happen? Dear god I thought it was a joke.

That was my thought also. Sports wise, not an upgrade. TV market won out though.

I like that also. Makes it so that there aren't too many years in-between playing some conference teams.

  • Appearently, Georgia Tech is in the mix as well.

Now this pickup, I wouldn't mind. GT would be a good addition to the B1G.

Georgia Tech could also be in mix for Big Ten, report indicates

Yellow Jackets also would face $50 million exit fee

Exactly. Kill guaranteed cross-division rivals and you can have two years on and two years off with everyone outside your division. And set it up so that the semi-finals and finals are home field advantage. Eff the neutral sites. We are stuck with that with the playffs. Don't torture us with it in our own conference.

Semifinals with 9 game conference schedule would either mean an extra game (not sure what the NCAA rules are on this), or only 2 non-conference games. And with 9 conference games, pretty likely that both of those non-conference games are cupcakes. I'd hate that.

I'm telling you, I smell 16. MD was just the first to leak, but they probably are talking with a number of schools for the other three.

NCAA rules will be changed just like they were to allow CCGs. Once the SEC moves to 16, they will want semifinals just as badly. And the SEC and B10 working together will get their way. There is just too much money to be made in semifinal games and the big conferences are going to want to capture it at the conference level rather than share it with everyone else.

  • Super conferences here we come! Time to throw tradition out the window and embrace a whole new era of CFB.

I gotta say, I hate everything about this. I typically liked the regional aspects of the game, the folksyness of it all and the tradition that came with it. There is just too much money to be made off of CFB and all signs have been pointing towards a shift to super conferences for a while now. Tons of money will be made as a result and I just hope some day the players get their cut of the pie.

Izzo is bitching about it. Says he wants them to square it with academics and travel. Not that it would matter to theBIG or Delany.

Saw on Twitter that MGOBlog thinks the B10 is run by morons.

I also read that when polled most Maryland alum oppose the move.

It barely affects hoops at all. And the B10 has not been at the forefront of expansion. If the B10 had its way, we still would all be at conferences of 8-10 teams each and there would be no BCS and no playoff. But the B10 isn't in charge. And we can't just sit and watch every other conference move forward and be left behind. Sixteen team leagues are inevitable so the B10 is making a move before all the remaining good schools are gone.

I'm all for expansion, but if we're going to add Rutgers and MD, why not just offer EMU and CMU. Both are equally terrible football teams. The Big Ten got an A+ in the PSU and Nebraska addition. Now we are just adding random sucky ACC and Big East teams.

Bring in Mizzou and 'Cuse as well? Mizzou can't hang in the SEC.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Oh, in case this wasn't discussed yesterday, MSU has some very major fundamental problems on offense. Not ground-breaking, but botched snaps? Really? What a disappointing year.

Props to UM. Looks like Gardner is the real deal.

Don't tell DWags. He insists Gardner will never be more than a good but not great WR.
