    Who's next? Mizzou and 'Cuse?

Makes the Legends division easier, but what a joke. 2 cross-division games? I hope MSU keeps its protected rivalry with IU; State won't see tOSU for a decade lol. That's going to lead to some very unbalanced schedules, BTW.

That's why we will go to four divisions of four teams each. If you go to 9 conference games and drop guaranteed cross divisions rivals, you only go two years between playing every school from outside your division.

    Example:

B10 East: PSU, RUT, UMD, UVA
B10 North: OSU, UM, MSU, SYR
B10 South: UNL, IOWA, PUR, IU
B10 West: UW, ILL, NW, MN

Big 10 N would be a bloodbath lol Wisky is being handed a play-off berth year after year, and in the next 5-8 years, the Big 10 East winner could be 6-6.

    Man, I hate realignment.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

It's not as bad as it looks. If you set it up so every school plays one of the better teams and one of the lesser teams from each of the other three divisions, the schedules are fairly balanced for everyone. And you only have to win your division to make the semifinals (which I believe is the obvious next step).

Yea, it just feels weird though. CFB is/was a very regional sport, with each conference being ID'd by certain characteristics. Now it's all about TV markets.

Oh well, it is what it is. Looking forward to those Maryland - Indiana tilts, along with Rutgers - Minnesota.

Yeah, but we already play four OOC games with teams from the MAC and around the country. This just changes that by making one of those games against a new B10 member (e.g. swapping an OOC game against Colorado or Ball State for a B10 game against UMD).

    THIS ABSOLUTELY SUCKS BALLS!

I want my big ten back. Delany has his head so far up OSU's rear end it's pathetic. Lobby for them to play in a bowl, allwo Urban to have two staffs, now put two powerhouses on that side and send Illinois here. Wisconsin, declining- PSU, buhbye as far as being good. maryland and rutgers? comefrickenon!

OSU is in the championship game every year starting in 2014. Delany is happy as hell.

Sorry Michigan, you're screwed too. Not screwed, but we'll be beating each others brains out with Nebraska, plus you get to hit up OSU each year. Not right.

    I hate Delany

Rocky I agree with this. I'm pretty upset about the whole thing and feel like I'm going to shift my time/interest to the NFL.

Also, I'll add if it's all about gaining market share and money time to redistribute some of that wealth to the players.

I think Cuse is a no brainer because of it's basketball program, it's lax program and its proximity to NYC. Short of adding ND to the national brands already in the B10, adding both RU and Cuse will provide us with the best chance of building a following in NYC. Also, the State of New York has over 10 million people outside of NYC.

Beyond Syracuse, and excluding ND and UT, my guess is UNC, UVA, VT, NCST, BC and GT are all in the mix. My guess is we wilk end up with UVA but it depends on how everything plays out.

I have no idea where this thinking is coming from. Have the presidents so defered their powers and moral judgement to sports that we will be run by Jim Delany.

Woodson, despite your message board moniker, I know you're a big basketball guy. I don't think Syracuse would leave the Big East. It's a beast for basketball, despite how good the big ten is this year. UNC leaving Duke? No way.

But whatever the leaving/joining machinations are, I can't believe the power Delany has over the presidents. This is nuts. Bo schembechler warned everyone of this back in the 70's. He was right. It's all about the money, and it's all BS. I'm listening to the fan today and the under armor guy just sold 56 million dollars worth of stock friday. Funny, but Maryland's buyout from the ACC is 50 million. Is that a coincidence?

Go ahead you guys that are saying we shouldn't pay these kids anymore then their scholarships. I wont' even argue with you anymore, because if you can't see this is all t.v. and revenue, without giving a crap about travel or academics you're blind. Screw this I hate it.

I wish I wasn't addicted to college football, I'd give it up today. But I can't. I hate that fact too.

I mean if you want to add TV market areas and talent pools to your conference why not add UofCal San Diego to the B10? Three hours away from the LA TV market, and such a rich talent pool.

Maybe you can negotiate .77 cable fees from the providers.

You must have slept through the past 12-18 months. Syracuse announced it was leaving the Big East over a year ago. And of course UNC doesn't want to leave the ACC. The problem is the ACC is leaving them, one team at a time. As I said, I expect us to end up with UVA as #16 but it could be any of about half a dozen schools (see my list). You don't have to like conference realignment. But sticking your head in the sand is not going to stop it. It is going to happen.

Great read on ESPN about this.

As Maryland and Rutgers bolt, college sports caretakers fail again - men's college basketball - ESPN

The caretakers of college sports long ago stopped worrying about the fans or the student-athletes. It became about them, about their egos and their legacies, about the aphrodisiac-laced cocktail of power and greed. And so it is again.

    How about:
    Division 1
    Michigan crossover: MSU
    Ohio crossover: PSU
    Purdue crossover: Northwestern
    Indiana crossover: Illinois

    Division 2
    Wisconsin
    Iowa crossover: Nebraska
    Michigan State crossover: Michigan
    Minnesota: Rutgers

    Division 3
    Nebraska crossover: Iowa
    Northwestern crossover: Purdue
    North Carolina crossover: VT
    Illinois crossover: Indiana

    Division 4
    Penn State crossover: Ohio
    Virginia Tech crossover: UNC
    Maryland crossover: Wisconsin
    Rutgers crossover: Minnesota

I think you need to give up guaranteed crossover games. It messes everything up. With no guaranteed crossover games, you can have "two years on and two years off" against every team outside your division. It also keeps the SOS more balanced. IMO there are only a few "must play every year" rivalries (e.g. UM/OSU, UM/MSU, UW/MINN) and those teams can be put in the same divisions. Beyond that, align the schools by geography and what just makes the most sense. It's simpler and cleaner.

B10 East: PSU, RUT, UMD, UVA
B10 North: OSU, UM, MSU, SYR
B10 South: UNL, IOWA, PUR, IU
B10 West: UW, ILL, NW, MN

  • I like the pod set up, but I’m not sure how I feel about a B1G playoff. I would much rather just take the two best team’s regardless of division or pod put them in the B1GCG.

I know I’m kind of late but I like the addition of UMD. People have really forgotten how good that basketball program used to be. Not everything has to be about Football, and they now have the resources to be at least meh at that. I don’t love the addition of Rutgers’s but I understand it, I would have preferred Cuse over them though. Since it looks like 16 team conference in inevitable, I’d like GT and Miami.

    I love football too.

I guess the era I liked most I will refer to as the golden era going forth. Ten solid teams that would fight hard on Saturdays. For Braintrust who was too young to see the Ten teams in the 80's even Indiana and Illinois were good.

Also, I refuse to call it the B10 anymore I will now refer to it as the Big 14.
