    Favorite week of college football.

Bedlam, Civil War, Iron Bowl, Michigan-OSU, Florida-Florida State. Yes please.

and speaking of realignment, i wish the backyard brawl was on this weekend too. thumbdown

Funny you should mention the backyard brawl. My money's on the next big announcement (after Rutgers to the B10) being Pitt and Louisville to the B12.

Didnt the Big 12 pass on Ville last year?

    I love football too.

I guess the era I liked most I will refer to as the golden era going forth. Ten solid teams that would fight hard on Saturdays. For Braintrust who was too young to see the Ten teams in the 80's even Indiana and Illinois were good.

Also, I refuse to call it the B10 anymore I will now refer to it as the Big 14.

That is what you remember of the 80's? That was still part of the Big 2 Little 8 era. I am ok with going back to that also.

  • Agree. MD and RU are not about football, well not MD and RU football anyway. They are about expanding BTN's footprint and extending our existing brands (UM, PSU, OSU, UNL) deep into the heart of ACC and BE territory. Throw in some very good basketball and lax content for BTN and it's a very solid move.

......Is the Lax thing a bit, or do you really really like lacrosse?

I also remember Wisconsin being the doormats of the conference. That's right, they stunk.

No more than we passed on MD. They took TCU and WVU instead, but L-ville was rumored to be next on their list at the time. I think the B12 has to be getting nervous. They are trying to play the game right at the edge like the BE and ACC did. A 10-team league dominated by one school (UT) is too high risk. If UT leaves or is even down for an extended period, the conference can quickly turn to crap. Also, they are still falling further and further behind the B10, SEC and P12 in revenues. They need to grab a couple more schools with decent TV markets and launch a network. UT is not going to look out for anyone but itself.

That was when mSu bested Indiana for the Big 10 title and a trip to Pasadena. Those were the good old days, eh Steve?

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

It's ok, I'm not in love with it. But it's a growing sport and just like hockey is perfect content for BTN. Delany sees in lax the same things that Brandon saw when he elevated UM's lax to D-1 ... a growing sport with good economics. The B10 has three men's lax teams right now and MD will be #4. NW has a great women's program too. If we add RU tomorrow and any one of SYR/UVA/UNC, we will have enough schools to launch a very good B10 lax league.

I also remember ten years ago when MSU was the doormat of the conference. Some things never change.

For us that was definitely a great period towards the end of the 80's. You had to of loved beating USC in the Rosebowl the year after.

They don't teach that at Baker, er mSu

Didn't hit the "y" key all the way, I suppose.

I don't get the Baker reference. You'll have to clarify.

We also played the # 1, # 2, #4, and # 17 teams in the country all away from AA. A 9-3 year with that scedule is pretty impressive.

There was once a time when you were one of those teams. Now you are just like the rest of us. You're trying to get back to the point where you were once great. Sucks. Amiright?

10-2 and now probably 9-3 with one of CFB's hardest schedules and Hoke is doing it with RR recruits. bow

I'd be shocked if UM beat OSU. They are one of the top teams in the country. They're up there with Alabama. I think they run you off the field. They hype isn't there because of the sanctions and it's clouding your judgment. You may hate OSU (I don't like them either) but they have improved throughout the year and BM is for real.

You've been alive for one Rose Bowl appearance for Sparty. For someone handing all sorts of grammatical help you think you could at least identify plural or singular.
