1. We won all the games we were supposed to win 2. We extended our home win streak to two years 3. Devin Gardner picked up extremely valuable game experience going into 2013 and played well despite being thrown in on short notice 4. We are putting the finishing touches on another stellar recruiting class 5. We redshirted some excellent looking prospects from the 2012 class 6. Our DBs held their own most of the season despite losing our best CB in game 1 and our secondary should be even better next year with Blake Countess back and all the game experience Raymon Taylor got this year 7. We identified Funchess as a potential future star at TE once he has a year or two in S&C 8. Solid game experience for some young players on defense such as Bolden, Ross, Wilson and Ojemudia 9. Solid game experience for Rawls with some flashes he could be a real contributor next year as we move more toward a pro style offense and a power running game

I think they're all important. People underestimate what RR did to our program in terms of talent. He didn't set us back intentionally, but so many players are undersized or "wrong fits" for other reasons it's a miracle we've had as many wins as we've had the past two years. When RR was handed a similar situation, his first two seasons were 3-9 and 5-7. Even year three was only 7-6 with a blowout loss in our bowl game. I know everyone wants to win every game, but it doesn't work that way. Even our 2006 team, which was by far the most talented team we've had since '97, had two losses. People love to mock coaches like Stoops and Richt and Miles for losing 2-3 games a year, but losing only 2-3 games for any team in a major conference is an accomplishment. Do I wish we had won one or two of the games we lost? Absolutely. But we weren't going to win them all. We don't have the talent right now to compete with Bama and ND/UNL/OSU will always be tough road games.

So were RR's recruiting classes highly rated? I don't get that if they were. If a class is full of 4 stars but not well balanced why do they get a high rating? if the recruiting gurus don't consider balance or "fit" why should we trust them at all?
Note: I have no idea what they were rated

Some are more realistic than others. What was coach D's expectations for the season?
I realize trcmb likes to take things and run with them, such as Hoke's expectations of winning the B1G, but you should take a step back and realize that Coach D says the same thing.

It is called being realistic. I was called all sorts of things before the 2011 season because I said Michigan would be 9-3. MSU fans mocked me based off of their 6-6 or 7-5 predictions.
This year I thought 8-4, winning on the road is tough. That isn't an excuse, that is a reality. You should know this, MSU has a hard enough time winning at home. You can hype and pump what you want, I try to be realistic.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but did anybody see Drake Harris last night? He was unreal in the state championship game...record for most yards...and also went over 2,000 yards for the season (one of 12 receivers ever in the whole country to do that).
It's quite possible he gets bumped to the consensus number one player in the state over McDowell in the coming months. Have to figure this helps MSU land a guy like Henderson as well.
