    Shut up. Are you serious?

My immediate reaction is that it's pathetic, but then I think about it, and I can't think of who they would add...

Is the MAC in jeopardy of losing any mbers to the BE or ACC?

Seems like these mid majors are going to want to latch on to an AQ teet if they can.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

  • Subject to further moves by other conferences to pick over the BE's bones, this is their 2014 football lineup: UConn, Louisville, South Florida, Cincinnati, Tulane, Temple, Boise State, San Diego State, UCF, SMU, Memphis, Houston and ECU. I believe Navy also might be joining in 2015.

It won't be an AQ teet for much longer. If I were a MAC team, I wouldn't consider leaving for the BEast, b/c you're simply tying yourself to an equally non-AQ conference, minus the massive college football/sports following.

If they snag Rice too, then they would have successfully taken every single team in the C-USA that is bowl eligible this year.

Edit: Whoa, nevermind. I was thinking they were adding Tulsa, not Tulane. Why in the hell are they taking Tulane? It hasn't had a winning season since 2002, and since that year they've only broken 4 wins twice. Talk about a spot filler...

They would basically be leaving the MAC to join CUSA. In fact, rumors are that BSU and SDSU are currently in discussions with the MWC to remain in that conference and not join the BE at all. If that happens, every remaining school in the new BE will have come from CUSA except UConn and Temple. And UConn is on the very short list to replace UMD in the ACC!

They are trying to land a new TV deal and Tulane supposedly brings the New Orleans TV market.

That would leave them with 0 original members.

    Wow.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Wow, yea. Miami, BC, Va.Tech, 'Cuse, Pitt . . . . . toss Temple in the mix and you're good to go. roflmao.

Still not pumped about Maryland and Rutgers.

How do AQs work with the playoff? Are there still BCS bowls and BCS rankings?

No. BCS is dead. AQ is dead. Rose, Sugar and Orange bowls go back to having contractual tie-ins with major conferences. Some mysterious committee picks the four playoff teams a la NCAA basketball tourney. I can't wait. It ought to be a hoot.

So a "bubble" team is possibly the 4th or 5th best team in the country? Great

I like to think of it as the committee picking the four #1 seeds, but if you don't get a #1 seed you get left out entirely and have to hope for an NIT bid.

Yes. They need more room for advertising.

  • Does anyone think that in the next 20-30 years the whole realignment will come full circle? What I mean is that the 16 super-conferences become so bloated that they break off into 2 8-member conferences with better geographical alignments . . . like the Southwest Conf./Big 8, etc.

I can see PSU, Maryland, Rutgers, Pitt, BC, Va. Va.Tech and . . . . I don't know, Temple or UConn just forming the Northern Atlantic Conf.

Big 10 would be back at 10; Nebraska goes back to the Big 8.

    S. Car/Clemson/FSU/Miam(FL), Kentucky, TN, Vandy and . . . WVU make their own conf.

Bama/Auburn/UGA/Miss/Miss State/TAMU/Arky/LSU go do their thing.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I'm 51, I'll be dead. Or if the Spartans win a NC in football or the lions win a super bowl in ten years I'll die earlier.
