Les miles wow. Think he'll take it or does he want more from lsu?

He's not going anywhere at this late stage in his career. He's certainly not going to Arkansas. My guess is LSU sweetens his retirement package and throws him some more money for his assistants and some more perqs. And, honestly, Arky should be looking for an energetic, younger coach who will be there for awhile if he works out. You might be able to get a Patterson or Petersen for $28 million over 5 years. That puts a lot of names in play.

Nope. I'm the guy making the dumb faces. First pic is obvious.

Torii is from Arkansas. He was there with his wife and son Torii Jr. His son, now committed to Notre Dame, was there on a recruiting visit. I had good seats.

  • Wags, good luck to your dad in surgery. Hope he makes a full and fast recovery.

  • Wags, my wife's uncle had a quintuple bi-pass two days before the UM game. He said he was glad he lives in Colorado, because the game might have put him right back on the surgery table. Lol. Anyway, we were worried sick for him, thankfully he was pretty much fully recovered within a month; its amazing how routine bi-pass surgeries have become. I guess we can thank our obese nation for the high level of skill that surgeons have developed in this area...

Wishing your dad and family the best. Not a big prayer guy, but I'll drop the big man a line for your pops.

    Modern medicine is amazing

Dwags, I will continue to pray for your father, you and your loved ones. The thought of losing my father and my best male friend (I really like my wife) is terrifying.

  • Regarding the Burke discussion:

If you look in the old thread, you'll find where I claimed that Appling was better than Burke. It was about 11 months ago probably. Well, I was young and foolish back then, and have eaten my words since.

I would like to point out, however, that Appling is currently playing the best basketball of his career, and I think he's actually playing better than Burke right now.

I'm confident Burke will improve as the season goes on, but it will be interesting to see what Appling does.

I am really looking forward to Burke's matchup with Appling.

Actually, I like all the matchups with MSU. Some good position battles, Hardaway vs Harris, Robinson vs Dawson, Nix/Payne vs Morgan/McGary/Horford.

Who would Stauskus be matched with?

I really like Michigan's ball movement, passing, shot selection (excluding Akunne), and tempo. I don't feel like we're living by the 3, although we're taking a fair number of them. Every place in the big 10 is tough to play in, but so far, I have confidence in this team.

That said...after watching IU last night, I think we're all playing for second place.

Hopefully once we are full strength he finds his way back to the bench. I get some of the stuff with putting Kebler and Thornton on the floor, but this is different. He needs another year or so.

The B10 has to be the best conference in the nation. We are the SEC of basketball.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Your O looks really smooth out of the gate. Very impressed.

IU looks to be on a whole different level . . . but Roy Boy isn't exactly known for getting his teams to play elite D though. UM, MSU and tOSU will all roll out better Ds. May not matter, because that's a very very strong shooting team, but who knows? Big 10 could have 4 top 10 teams this year.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Who would Stauskus be matched with?

Well, it would probably be Valentine or Byrd, unless Izzo elects to go big, in which case Payne would probably guard Robinson I'm guessing, and Dawson would be on Stauskas.

I think the Appling-Burke matchup will be excellent. Appling is a pretty solid lock-down defender, but Burke is a unique challenge. Conversely, Appling is very significantly improved his offensive game from last year. He has fixed his shot, and drives to the hole much more decisively. I think that Appling's better lock-down ability could even the battle there.

Harris is very good, but an experienced Hardaway is better. That could change before the two teams play, as Harris should show solid improvement over the season, but we'll see. However, I think the MSU player is a better defender again, which could level the playing field.

Robinson and Dawson should be a great matchup too. Dawson is presumably stronger, and I imagine that will help him greatly in that regard.

Some great matchups, will definitely be fun to watch.
