I can't say this enough, I really don't care how good Michigan or Illinois is in basketball. I know we teased you guys about a quarter century and no BIG championship, but I think it's a worthless title in basketball. Im a march basketball guy and start paying attention around then. I watched one MSU/ Ium game in person in the last two years and missed the other three on tv. I watched the last five minutes tonight turned the Michigan game on and thought it was boring as hell. I know I'm In the minority here but if um, Indiana or OSU are "good" between November and march 1, I could care less. After that I'd like to curb stomp you guys. But how rare would it be to play each other in the tournament? You guys rarely get deep enough and if we met in the 16 or 8, Izzo would kill you guys.

    Fact.

Your last sentence nailed it dwags. It's all about killer instinct and rising up in hoops. Izzo has had some of the greatest runs ever in march. Kansas, Louisville and uconn...that is flat out incredible.

Phil Jackson has 11 titles. Izzo has 1. Talk about a coach underperforming considering the talent he's had.

I don't track this but I bet on average Izzo gets to more final fours with less NBA talent then anyone.

What talent has Izzo had, exactly, that would make him the favorite to win a title?

Look, I didn't come on here and start by trashing Izzo. I came on and congratulated you on your impressive win. It was one of your resident trolls who started ragging on Beilein - the coach who has beaten Izzo 3 out of the last 4 and won a share of the B10 title last year with clearly inferior talent - by idiotically suggesting that he has a history of underperforming with "great talent". I just assumed most MSU fans had some working knowledge about college basketball. Clearly, I was wrong.

Well, considering he has won the same number of national championships as Steve Fisher and a dozen or so other one-hit wonders, what in the world justifies comparing him to Phil Jackson?

Yeah, I watch MSU basketball. Played it in high school up to my senior year. But if you want to say I don't have a working knowledge of college Bball I'm good with that.

    Rivals/Scout/ESPN Class Rankings:

    2003: 13/-/-
    2004: 11/-/-
    2005: NR/NR/-
    2006: 18/12/-
    2007: 14/9/18
    2008: 22/17/16
    2009: NR/NR/NR
    2010: 11/10/10
    2011: 21/19/17
    2012: 13/13/9

Based on these rankings, getting to the elite 8 or better is overperforming, yet Izzo has how many Final Fours?

No. I was talking about the person who claimed Beilein has a history of underperforming with great talent. As the saying goes, ignorance is bliss.

You say that UM had clearly inferior talent last year, yet MSU's freshman class is ranked just as high as UM's, and now UM clearly has more talent (according to another post of yours)? This makes no sense.

HAHAHA. I just went back and looked at what you considered "comparing (Izzo) to Phil Jackson". Pffffft.

Starting the sentence with "Even Phil Jackson" directly implies that Izzo isn't as good as Phil Jackson, but even Phil Jackson struggled in a similar way.

    What a pathetic troll.

That doesn't tell you anything because it doesn't tell you which kids leave early for the NBA. If Izzo's players stay longer on average than Kentucky's, he very easily could have the more talented team in a given year. That is one reason the mid-majors are able to compete with the larger programs. The fact is that Billy Donovan has 2 titles. Roy Williams has 2. Calhoun has 3. Coach K has 4. Tom Izzo is one of a dozen or so coaches who have won a national championship and he has had more than his share of talent.

The consistency with which Izzo has been a national title contender is elite, that's really all there is to it. Does Izzo have to win another title to cement his legacy? Absolutely. But let's not pretend he's underperforming with elite talent.

    ** yawn **

It's almost as bad as MSU's football team losing to Iowa this year at home. Almost. At least Ohio had a winning record and was considered in the top 20% of all teams in the country last year. Iowa's football team? Not so much.

4 loss USC team in the top 14? doubt it.

He means that they'll win the Pac-12 CCG as well, I think.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Haha. Not cocky at all, but when UM trolls prod, we're not going to ignore it forever.

Funny how UM trolls are just speaking the truth. MSU responding is 'Sparty being cocky'.

    Typical UM blathering.
