  • NW is making Baylor's life miserable. That would be the Baylor that beat UK in Lexington.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think Byrd is a better shooter? Stauskas is shooting over 65% from three right now, and it sounds like he can light it up just as much when there are shooting competitions. And I didn't realize that Stauskas wouldn't do well in MSU's system, so I guess it would make sense to not take him.

I've seen Byrd shoot and I've seen Stauskas shoot. I think Stauskas is a very gifted shooter, I just think that Byrd has a better shot. Were Byrd in B____'s system, I am very confident he would do as well as Stauskas.

Because I think that pure shooters struggle in Izzo's system? Mmmkay.

I don't see the connection. Russell Byrd is not a better shooter than Nik Stauskus. Not in Izzo's system. Not in any system.

Think what you will, let's see if Stauskas maintains this, and if Byrd stays cold.

It's possible that Byrd just isn't a very good in game shooter imo. Vogrich is a good 3 point shooter in practice, but he's very mediocre in games.

Can that happen for Byrd? The system is holding him back.

Stauskas will not be shooting 65% from three by the end of the year. But I wouldn't be shocked if it was around 50%.

If he shoots 50%, I'll eat crow all day long. My bet is he doesn't break 45%, and could have trouble breaking 40%.

I'll ban myself from posting ITT for a full year if he shoots under 45 from three.

You do the same if I win the bet, okay?

A lot depends on how much he shoots. If he tries to force things then I agree with you. However, if he continues to take smart shots then I think he is a good enough shooter to keep it over 45%. He'll also get fewer open looks once conference play starts which will hurt his percentage.

Haha. No. The only recruit that Izzo might not have seen the potential of was Trey Burke.

The only player UM got in 2012 that I would want more than one of MSU's recruits would be GRIII, who was not an under-the-radar guy at all.

Wasn't GRIII under the radar when he committed to Michigan?

I think it'd be much more satisfying for the winners if the loser were to continue to post.

I will take that 40% on the season bet.

This is included in what I'm talking about. At some point, some of UM's players will start cooling off, and I think this will naturally pull down Stauskas' shooting percentage. When the team relies on him to drop 3's all day, and he has a bad game or two, let's see how well he bounces back.

Hahahaha. I haven't been drinking. I've simply made 1 statement that you guys went apeshit over.

I don't understand what the problem is, Byrd is a phenomenal shooter. He has struggled after having some significant injuries and an offensive system that is much less conducive to perimeter shooting that B_____'s hasn't helped. When we're talking actual shot, Byrd's is better, that's just how I see it.

I wouldn't bet on 40%, b/c of the hot streak he is currently on. I feel comfortable that he'll finish below 45%.

He's barely a D1 player. Izzo missed on the kid.

Please quit defending Byrd. He's just... not good.

I don't get the sense that we're relying on him to hit 3s. "Relying" gives the impression the team would be .500 without Stauskas.
