  • There's a battle to the death between two of our former opponents on ESPN right now. NCST @ GTWN. Is it possible for us to compete with each other by proxy?

    Byrd sucks donkey dick.

He's barely a D1 player. Izzo missed on the kid.

Please quit defending Byrd. He's just... not good.

Wrong. He is one of the best shooters in CBB, the system is holding him back.

We will see. You sure are burying your feet in the sand against one of the best shooters recruited nationally last year.

That's it. He's gone irrational. No one is saying Stauskus will shoot 60% from three on the season. We merely challenged his comment that Byrd is a better shooter. He's not. Stauskus isn't just having a couple good shooting games. He shoots extremely well in practice. He shot extremely well in HS. He's a very good shooter.

Tim Doyle is not who you want endorsing your bball team . . . but anyone that says anything other than UM looks very very strong right now is an idiot.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

The Arkansas game makes me somewhat nervous. If the freshman can't handle Arkansas's defensive pressure then Michigan could be in trouble.

  • MSU fans seem real jealous of Stauskas. Hating on the kid, too bad he's been lights out all summer as well. Every person who visited Michigan raved about him, he's going to be a baller and an insane shooter.

Hey, I'm jealous of any team that has a guy that they can count on to hit 2-3 3 pointers/game. MSU hasn't had respectable 3-point shooting since the 2005 team (Ager, Hill, Brown, Anderson, Torbert).

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I watched that game too. The flipside is that OU is not very good. Arky will be a tougher challenge than many people think, but we clearly have more talent. We just need to be careful not to underestimate them. They are coming to rape our women and steal our treasure. We must be ready.

I wouldn't bet on 40%, b/c of the hot streak he is currently on. I feel comfortable that he'll finish below 45%.

I don't think you understand, Stauskas is bred to be a lethal shooter. He is very good at selecting high-percentage shots, and it just so happens that he never misses said high-percentage shots. His mechanics are unnaturally compact, which is why every shot he takes looks like it'll cash. 10 of his 11 misses were rim-outs, 3 of which were in and out.

I don't see his 3-point percentage dropping below 50%. I feel he could maintain where he is currently, above 60%. It's easy to say this after all the hype he had as a shooter both in high school and throughout preseason, but to watch it over the course of 12 or so games has been a large enough sample size for me. When he puts up a shot I expect it to go in every time and I rarely feel this way, even when considering pure shooters.

With that said, I'll take you on any bet. 47.5%

  • How many shooters finish above 45% from 3 for the year? Serious question. I don't know the difference between average, good, and great.

Stauskus is on pace to destroy the single season 3pt% record. Previous season high was 51%, Stauskus is shooting 63%.

Only 7 guys have shot over 45% for their career.

All these stats are since the 1998-99 season.

Neitzel was pretty solid from 3. Suton wasn't too bad of an oustide shooter.

That would be pretty insane and probably make him a 1 and done. I was going to try to catch the game last night, but Amazon delivered Dark Knight Rises and my wife wanted to watch that. When is the next um game? One of these days I'll catch one.

They play Arkansas on Saturday. I'm actually worried about this game because I can see Michigan's freshmen struggling with Arkansas's defensive pressure. And Arkansas also beat Michigan last year.

"The truth is, he has a better chance of winning it all in Fayetteville than Madison. And he'll win games. He's a good enough coach to win anywhere. And, really, how couldn't he go? There's better facilities, richer budgets, closer proximity to talent, the thrill of the big time, huge exposure, monster challenges, fresh rivals, and, of course, more money. "

You see that first sentence there? Dan Wetzel gets it. Read the entire article. Gosh darn it looks like Steve was right again, cha ching!

I must add, this line just hurts...

"This is the reality of college football right now. The Big Ten commissioner is obsessed with building a cable network. The SEC commissioner is determined to build the NFL Lite, where even the second- and third-tier programs are budding powerhouses. "

    OUCH!

    And this one...

"The truth is, Bielema must know if he fails on the big stage, he can always go back and find a big Ten program desperate to hire him. "

Oh man, talk about throwing salt on a wound. Lawd have mercy!

Good. The more the B1G sucks the more it helps Michigan imo lol. If Michigan and OSU continue to be the only two schools who can recruit decent talent, then in a few years I don't see anyone else winning the B1G (or at least not consistently).

Alright. Is anyone else getting annoyed with Steve's "THE BIG TEN SUCKS SOUTHERN FOOTBALL IS AWESOME I'M GOING TO SHOVE THIS THEME DOWN YOUR THROAT" schtick the past few weeks?

I understand and agree with this completely. I would just caution you that sometimes, in our league, the rankings are usurped by coaches who have a niche for finding pieces that really work for them. Linemen ( Wisconsin Iowa) -defense ( Dantonio ) and while they'll maybe never win a NC, they can always win our league. As Michigan and OSU get stronger that will be harder. However, I still believe we won't see a NC from the big ten for a lonnngggg time. I have no doubt that one of our best could punch a top sec team in the mouth for one game, but now having to do it twice will be a task. What's more I wonder how our league could possibly prepare our best teams to play those guys in that atmosphere. It's a religion down there, and while we fill stadiums I don't think our region has the passion.

So what's that leave us? We'll just have to have more talent then those guys. Good luck. I've seen unbelievable development in players under Dantonio but I've often wondered about how passionate they are. Foe example if Gholston was as passionate as some sec players we see, how much better would he be. Meh, who knows at this point. It's a big hill we have to climb. All of us

    That's a fair point.

But would SOS come back to haunt them?

IMO, I just see the trend continuing that was established under Tressel. I just see OSU fattening up on the B10 and getting slaughtered by an SEC team in a BCS bowl.

All I know is the B10 should just throw a boat load of cash at an NFL coach or the next big named coach that gets fired. It's gotta start at the top and then that person needs to hit the pavement down south and just start recruiting the sun belt. I think those recruits would listen if it's a big recognizable name.

I agree the Natty is a pipe dream. Occassionally a MAC team will upset a B10 team or take them to the wire I guess the same goes for the SEC. On occassion a B10 team could give them a scare or have an upset.

Alright I'll tone it down, I've definitely said my piece. But to be honest I've been saying that since the summer. I've honestly believed the B10 is heading up dire straights for quite some time. Its not something I've just come up with in the last couple weeks.
