Source? Butch was pretty much a "done deal" to Colorado too. I would be surprised if it's not Narduzzi to replace him, however.

About what the UTk stuff or the Narduzzi stuff? Butch was a done deal until he got contacted by UTk. It's from a UTk guy on another board who's a very reliable poster. I think some of the cinci sites are starting to report he's gone too. Not sure about the UTk sites. Some Cinci guys were mentioning Narduzzi as the "rumored" front runner to replace Butch so TIFWIW.

  • This is from the UTk guy
he identified Charlie Strong as his guy on Friday 11/30/2012.
Interviewed him next day. Strong starts calling guys to join Vol staff.
hart gets word Gundy was looking for an out and interviewed him.
waited for Gundy's answer before he got back to Strong.
took 6 days to officially get down to contract squabbling w/ strong.
Strong now cautiously takes his *** back to Jurich and talks more l'ville and re ups with them
yet it seemingly takes one day to hammer things out with Butch Jones in desperation...

  • Interesting article. I agree with most if it, but would put MSU in the East and Purdue in the West to keep UM/MSU together. And if we add two more eastern schools to reach 16, put them in the East and move IU to the West to reunite it with Purdue. Done.

  • I wonder why UTk won't give John Chavis a chance? His resume is a lot better than Dooley's and CLK's. smh it would be nice to see a fellow Lum get a chance.

Meh, I'm neutral about it at this point. For competitive balance, trading MSU for Purdue makes zero sense.

Naw, let UM-tOSU have their division and put MSU - UM as fixed cross-division rivals.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Any Basketball games this weekend? I'm going to be watching the Pacqiuo fight Saturday night, and pretty busy overall on Saturday. I think MSU is done with any good teams until we play UT. Does um play Arky this weekend?

  • Well, with Jones at TN now, you have to think Narduzzi's on Cincy's short list of candidates.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Yep, UM - Arky is this weekend. MSU - Loyola (CHI), which is interested because I went to law school at Loyola lol. They're horrible.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Sounds about right. So who moves up the ranks? Tressel?

That would be my best guess. LBs have definitely been the strongest, most consistent unit on D and you know he has the pedigree. Would maintain the "promote from within", plus lends the big name to the position. I'd assume Narduzzi would take 2 assistants to be the OC and DC too, if he goes. Nothing's set in stone, but Cincy was the one job popping open that worried me with Narduzzi.

Now, Cincy may elect to grab a HC at a lower-level school (Mario Cristobal coming free could be appealing), but Narduzzi is definitely one of the biggest coordinator names out there.

Looking back on it now the gap argument was dumb. I stand corrected.

But still, I think BB will have a better chance of going 11-1 at Arkansas and making a playoff, then having to go 13-0 at Wisconsin and having to beat an OSU team under Urban, and the Legend’s division champion. Regardless of conference it’s hard to go undefeated.

And I think BB at Arkansas has a better chance of shrinking the talent gap between Arkansas, and the SEC elite’s in the West, then he does shrinking the talent gap between Wisconsin and OSU under Meyer.

He’s still going to have great O line talent (and possibly even better now because of a larger and better talent pool to recruit from), but now he should be able to get talent at the skill positions and on defense.

I agree with a lot of your statements...

I think BB will probably hover around between 20-10th ranked team in the country with the occasional year where he lands in the top 10 and does really well.

All just a gut feeling but we will see.

Why are you guys so eager to get rid of Narduzzi?

We feel like he's holding Roushar back.

He should be, and he should be trippling his salary. Foolish for him not to take it. Good for him. Dantonio will survive.

Isn't that pretty much how you ended up with Roushar at OC?

  • Dear Michigan,

Please take it easy on my very young and inexperienced Razorback basketball team tomorrow. I know y'all may want some revenge for last season; however, we can be friends and pretend that was an exhibition game... even though I was at the game... sitting right behind your Detroit Tiger Torii Hunter.

Peace be with you (yes, I'm catholic),

I'm actually concerned that Michigan will have lots of trouble with Arkansas if the freshman can't handle the full court pressure very well.

We can't shoot. If y'all run a zone defense then we're done. Yes, we hung with Syracuse for the full 40 minutes, but our half court offense is atrocious.
