Michigan was on probation and the facilites were a dump. Amaker was like a bird trying to fly into a 90 mph head wind at Michigan.

The guy was dead man walking the day he stepped on campus.

    What? roflmao

You said earlier: "If you guys stuck with Amaker you probably would be the same place you are now with Beilein."

So you say Amaker was a dead man the day he came here, but he would have eventually turned us into contenders in the toughest conference in basketball?

lol Stop contradicting yourself, Steve. You look dumb.

Izzo's slowing down? From 2010-2012, he had ESPN's 10th, 17th, and 9th ranked recruiting classes. He's got a good shot at filling his lone 2013 opening with arguably the best player in the nation. He is recruiting so well in 2014 that he has a good shot at landing three 5* players (#2, #4, and #7 in the nation, per 247), and that doesn't even count 4* Drake Harris, who he helped Dantonio secure.

Izzo isn't slowing down, he's speeding up, and I think the two main motivators for that have been Draymond and B_____ getting UM back up to a decent level.

Meh, those kids are in high school and haven't done crap in college yet. I want to see them play at D1 first. Recruiting class rankings don't mean squat if they don't translate well to this level. I like Harris Dawson and valentine. Byrd had a lot of hype too. Hows he doing. Payne is a nice player but he was a 5 star wasn't he? I don't like the hype on high school kids. Watch them play first.

The hype with basketball recruits is way more justified imo. Basketball recruits are a lot less hit and miss than football.

I guess I'm just skeptical of any kid who isn't ready for the bright lights. Maybe basketball recruits play against each other before they do so again in college. I don't know. But I've seen plenty can't miss guys come to MSU and turn their 5 stars into average but servicable players.

I'm just that guy who needs to see things out on a court or a field. There's a great line in the Dirty Dozen when Donald Southerland is pretending he's a general inspecting this platoon. He has chew in his mouth, looks them up and down and says "They're pretty, but can they fight?" then he spits. I always think of that line when I read the hyping of high school kids. Parker is supposed to be all that, and he might fit right in at MSU, he's already missing the first part of his senior year with a stress fracture of his foot. That malady is MSU to a T. Maybe that's why he's considering us.

Amaker, like Rich Rod, had zero support. We used to joke about one VCR at the place. Michigan was turning into the MSU of the 70's and 80's it seemed with little support for the big two sports. Obviously it was only temporay with football because of personalities, but you guys neglected basketball for years. Maybe it was because of the scandal, who knows, but Amaker was at a disadvantage in my opinion. He's not a bad coach, but he didn't have the support of facities that Be____ has.

    D.Wags you are spot on.

You flip the hires, it's B____ that gets the pink slip and Amaker that gets the accolades.

It's hilarious how many of the wolverine posters think I'm smoking crack when I say this stuff but time after time I am always proven right.

For instance I got ripped when I said Leyland was an incredible manager in July, come October he's in the World Series. None of my detractors has the guts to ever come back when I am right, they usually hide.

There is a lot of truth to this...some of these kids can go straight into the NBA and contribute. It's hard to be wrong with that type of talent.

Wtf are you talking about. For the most your ignorance leaves me speechless.

One example of your SOP. You claim that non-sunbelt teams can't compete for a NC. We point out that the sunbelt teams are constantly going after the elite northern talent. You put your head in the sand. The top 3 teams in the nation are not in the sunbelt, 4 of 6 if you look at the AP, not a peep from you.

Oh, and as I stated all along, the Tigers would have to get to the playoffs inspite of Leyland. Fire Leyland!

Just looked at the rankings and it is loaded with sun belt teams.7 sun belt teams in the bcs top 10. Season isn't over yet.

Also, I never said they can't compete I just said it's a sunbelt dominated sport. The numbers don't lie.

Speaking of rankings what kind of recruiting class does K-State typically pull in? They barely go above 60 and typically fall withing 60 to 70.

Great to see all of those 2 and 3 star recruits dominating.

PS: I spot checked a few of K-States recruiting classes and it's loaded with players from the sun belt.

I know Izzo was really high on him, and i think he was a Michigan fan growing up.

No. 1 ranked 2015 prospect Towns Jr. sets announcement date

The recruiting suspense for top ranked 2015 prospect Karl Towns wont last much longer.

You can say we're overrated if we lose to someone we're not supposed to. So far we have beat all 5 teams we've played by over 30 points. I'd rather go with what my eyes see than blind Sparty faith saying that scUM can't really be top 5.

    Good question.

And @ that article - That sucks. Although expected. I lost all hope with him coming to UM the second I figured out he was Dominican. I wouldn't be surprised if slimebag Cal is coaching the Dominican Republic team just to land this kid.

Looking at both the BCS and the AP, each poll has 11 teams in the top 25 from non-sunbelt areas. Those numbers don't lie (I included Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, I don't think they are "sunbelt" schools).

It is a SEC dominted sport right now if you just look at championships. Many factors come into play including oversigning. One of your claims that I don't agree with is you claim that a sunbelt 5* and 4* is a better football player than a non-sunbelt 5* and 4* football player.

You should cheer for KSU, gives programs like MSU hope. Some MSU fans in this thread maybe already, they have claimed to be Bama and LSU fans earlier in the season before they lost. Keep in mind with KSU though, they have one of the best coaches in the nation, somthing MSU is lacking.

They will always be a bottom feeder like PSU. Football only school. What makes it worse is they don't have the national draw to make up for the lack of in-state talent.

Watched some of Indiana last night. They looked good. I look forward to seeing what they can do away from Assembly Hall.

Steve, for a week to ten days just block all the non grads from both schools. See how much less frustrating it is. Then you can read the stuff if others quote them, but your response isn't warranted. I believe in free speech but I blocked non grads and this thread became great. The grads still disagree with you, some vehemently however, their wit and wisdom is enjoyable, even if misdirected like Woodsons ;)

Do what you need to and to each their own. I like these boards and I actually learn from guys like due and grudgingly I'm thinking Woodson knows basketball so that should be interesting. The rest is just white noise.

Btw, the KSU's of the world need to enjoy this last year IMO. Those type teams along with a big ten champ are going to have to be significantly better if they're going to win two games against the SEC to win a NC. I understand your point about the sunbelt, but being as old as I am, I really do think these things are cyclical. The big ten might cycle up again, just not for a bit in my opinion
