Kansas State winning this game really helps our resume.

Yeah it does, another quality win vs an opponent that is likely to be ranked soon. Their losses have been to Michigan and Gonzaga.

Not to mention our run game leaves a lot to be desired.

It is disgusting that the Lions #1 RB, has a long run of 16 yards, for the year.

They need to take a OL or a RB in the first round. I'd take Chance Warmack as my first pick.

Lets change the subject to Calvin Johnson going for Rice's record. Only thing redeeming about the Lions season.

Lions are brilliant running crossing patterns keeping as many double teams off of him as possible.

    He's amazing.

They need LBs and DBs more than OL. Warmack is a beast, but an OG with a top 5 pick?

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    I wish Roushar would run more crossing routes . . . . grumble grumble . . .

The frustration with watching the early games, especially ND was that I know he was running some, but they were run so poorly that Maxwell lost confidence in throwing that route. It takes balls to throw it over the middle, if you're confidence in your receiver is gone, you'd rather throw out routes or skinny posts. It was just a horrible year.

I loved what the lions did with CJ tonight though, You aren't going to double Calvin if he's coming hard over the middle, if your safety on that side decides to come with him, it's an easy read for any back running a wheel route out of the backfield. If the opposite safety is good enough to step up and help in a cover one, (very difficult) we can run a skinny post route from the other end. That leaves a very slow LB trying to help. emmmmm, no.

Calvin was not doubled most of the night. It was beautiful game planning. His record came on another crossing pattern. I think of all his catches only two weren't crossing patterns, and one of those was a real skinny post. Way to keep from being doubled. Give the OC some credit here.

Kansas beating OSU? Does that make our victory better or does that just say that OSU sucks?

Idk. Maybe a little of both.

TBH it was a weird day. Syracuse, OSU, Illinois, New Mexico and Florida - all very good teams - all played like crap today. I've watched nearly all of OSU's, UF's and Illinois' games this season and today was by far the worst I've seen them play. And Syracuse missed 15 free throws today. That's insane. But I also watched your game against KU earlier this year and you played extremely well in that game. So MSU remains somewhat of a mystery. The MSU team I watched manhandle KU was a much better team than the one I watched struggle with UT today.

You're the second State fan to effectively question Michigan fans basketball IQ. Not surprisingly, it comes after someone opines that mSu might not finish at the top of the conference. Interesting.

If we all said State will battle for the conference title would that make you think we knew what we were talking about?

Wrong. I questioned MrW's basketball IQ because he stated that MSU will "be nowhere near in the hunt for the B10 title this year." This is flat out stupid statement to make of any ranked team at this point in the season. MSU very well may finish 3-5 games behind the conference champion, I'm not arguing that at all, it is simply very uninformed to suggest that they won't be close at this point in the season.

Then, it get's plain confusing. MrW said: "You will be lucky to finish in the top half of the league." This would imply that MSU would be lucky to finish 6th or better, therefore implying that they must be more likely to get 7th/8th or worse. Yet he has also stated, "You will almost certainly finish behind IU, OSU, UM, Illinois and Minny. And both Wisky and Iowa will give you a run for the sixth spot." This would imply to me that he believes MSU is, at the very least, in a 3-way tie for 6th with 2 other teams. Yet, he said we'd be lucky to get 6th? How does this make sense?

Furthermore, please, please explain to me how it is justifiable at this point that MSU will not compete with those ranked higher than them, yet Wisconsin and Iowa (two teams that received ZERO VOTES) will be equal to a top 20 ranked MSU?

This is why what he was saying was completely uninformed and unintelligent, regardless of whether it was about UM or not.

Ah, yes, the infallible 'I guessed this one thing right which shows all of my future predictions should be treated as gospel.

    How about... no.

They already played the Heat once this year @Memphis and beat them. I believe we are #3 in the western conf right now, only behind the thunder and spurs.

Miami beat us I believe, correct?

I don't get this MSU team. Beat Kansas, struggle against Tuskeegee. Beat Texas, look like shit against Bowling Green for long stretches. I've only watched a handful, but I can see this is going to be a frustrating team to watch unless we get more consistent. What say you basketball experts? What do we need to be the team that beat Kansas and Texas and not be the team that played Tuskegee and Miami?

UT is not a good team. KU clearly is. And IIRC you beat them without Trice, too. IMO you have the talent but have looked unfocused and disinterested in most of your games (KU being the exception). No energy. No leadership. No passion. Like the players are just going through the motions. Idk, maybe that will change in B10 play. You better hope so or it's going to be a frustrating season.

This is exactly what we saw in football. Losing Cousins and Day Day of course hurt because of the talent loss, but the leadership can't be overlooked while out on the field or court. It goes to show how important recruiting character is besides talent.
