    Caesar at TE

    KIngs PR/KR

    Cook or Connor at QB

who was the RB from Georgia that RS? Thompson??? That guy at RB

Arnette, Burbridge and Mumphrey for our pass attack.

    9 win team.

Caesar would essentially be an inexperienced Devin Funchess

    Kings is an intriguing possibility

Cook/O'Connor would still be a 1st year starter, complete with all the 1st year starter problems

Tompkins is the RB from GA. We're going to have another Kavlin Torborg on our hands with him lol. Kid's a burner (supposedly) and the staff liked him enough to not recruit another RB in that class. Still, completely unproven.

I like Burbridge and Mumphery. Arnett is all recruiting hype as of right now.

Biggest ??? is the OL. If healthy, I think they stand a good chance of improving; really liked the interior towards the end of the year, and Fonoti should help shore up an OT spot. If they can't stay healthy, then who knows; MSU had 9 different O-lineman start a game this year. That's crazy.

Conroy was a pretty good K for 3 years, though inconsistent this year. You can't do much better than the #1 K in the country coming in though lol. I remember when Swenson came in (#4 K) and did great as a true FR, so I hope Geiger can do the same. Other than John Goss, MSU has had a ridiculous run on kickers stretching back to Anderson; it's the one spot I'm confident MSU will be o.k. at. Good punters too; Jarrett to Fields to Bates to Sadler.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Oh we both forgot one important upgrade, fire Roushar. JK.

I felt like the second I saw Cook out there that it gave me hope for a better O. I can't really explain it, but the guy just has poise back there. He looks like a winner.

Didn't watch the whole game cause I was out of country, but I watched the highlights and loved seeing Cook make the decision to run for that first down. Haven't seen that kind of mobility for a while.

He got right up after that run and looked fired up, I love his enthusiasm.

Thought of another good recruit, Dylan Chmura at TE. Guy has the bloodlines, can a TE come in year 1 and be productive?

  • So LE'Veon Bell declares for the NFL draft and Dantonio is "taken aback"?

    WTH?

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

eh, I wouldn't read too much into that. Sims is gone, Bell's gone, Gholston soon to follow.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • My ever-so-slightest faith in Sparty has been restored momentarily after I took a trip over there to read the reaction of Bell going pro. While wading through the muck, I came across a thread titled "Clowney or Gholston?" I braced myself for the utmost delusion and homerism, yet I was treated to 2 pages the OP getting ripped.

    Well done, Sparty. Well done.

Speaking of delusion and homerism, remember when poster Brady Hoke/msucan'tmakethebcs said UM would go 12-0 next year and could beat Bama. LOL!

I'm most taken back that they are quoting dantonio as being surprised by Bell leaving. WTF? we all knew those three were going in November. I don't get that.

Tough day is one way to look at it

    Great day is another..

MSU putting 3-4 guys in the NFL off the heels of putting 6 in can only help recruits recognize they can come to MSU and play in the NFL

Kudos to them and hope they all get paid.

Agree. The LEAST surprising departure is Bell.

  • So now that all 3 JRs have declared, MSU looks to return 8 on offense and 7 or 8 on defense (whether or not you count Jones taking over Norman's spot as starter 1/2 way through year)

That's like saying you were happy you went 6-6 because it meant you would face an easier bowl opponent.

Say 7.5 on D; Jones started half the year.

    Good luck to the JRs.

Figure those 3 get drafted, along with Adams and maybe McDonald if he has a good combine or something. Norman may get a look as an UFA.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

So, is this bad news because it means you didn't put more underclassmen into the NFL? I'm totally confused. Down is up. Right is left. Sparty is Bama.

I thought you said Bell. so now Gholson, Bell, and Sims are gone. Whew. tough day.

It was pretty much expected; thought Sims or Gholston may stay, but once Sims declared, WG was gone.

A couple of weeks ago our writers said MSU could take 18-20 kids in this recruiting class. Only way that would have worked was to have all 3 JRs go early without pulling some major SEC crap.

FWIW, Tyler Hoover's coming back for his 6th year. Kid's been injured a lot, though has had a couple great games in his career. Bullough and Dennard are staying; if those 2 went I'd be saying MSU hits 4-8 next year.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

Not sure that's like saying that at all..

It can help the program to see kids go out and get drafted high early.. shows player development.. Bell going from a 2 star to being one of the first RBs off the board can only be showed as a positive..

Would MSU be better if all 3 returned? Probably.. does it mean MSU's destined for another 6-6 season? Based on the ease of the schedule and just general returning to the norm of some stats, the answer is probably not

Yea, flipping Purdue and IL for Wisky and tOSU means a net of 1 W from last year. Then again, MSU could lose to USF.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
