    Figures.

    You are a tool though.

    Thanks.

I have to side with Cope on exactly one point here; I don't think he ever said UM bball was 'shitty'.

I think he believes that UM bball is overrated. In fact, I remember him saying that UM is better described as a top 10 team than the #2 team.

I disagree with him on that, but just want to make sure he isn't unfairly represented.

I'd say UM is better described as a top 3 team than #2. biggrin

Answer the question- when did I say UM basketball was shitty?

You've failed to give them any real credit this year. Every "compliment" is always negated by some sort of excuse to lessen their accomplishments.

You don't have to explicitly say they are shitty for me to gauge your true thoughts.

You better hope not. With our defense and likely passing game under Devin Gardner, adding a powerful running game to that could be deadly. Of course, given our history, you might not want to count on us not being able to run the ball. We've been pretty good at it for quite a while.

    2012: 184 ypg 2011: 222 ypg 2010: 239 ypg 2009: 186 ypg 2008: 148 ypg 2007: 165 ypg 2006: 176 ypg 2005: 162 ypg 2004: 154 ypg 2003: 176 ypg

Well thankfully, I don't see Mike Hart lining up in the backfield, surrounded by multiple 1st round picks on the OL or Denard lining up in the gun, so I like my chances

Calling them top 10 isn't giving them credit?

Dileo had 20 catches for 330 yards and 2 TD's on the year or basically the same production as MSU's #4 WR Tony Lippett (36/292/2)

Funchess had 15 catches and 200 yards, though 5 TDs.. but 15 catches is not exactly "playmaker-esk"

Gallon had a big year- but really only had 4 big games, SC, Iowa, NW, Bama (6 games under 35 yards).. but should be solid #1 WR at 5'8. lol

So if Dileo and Funchess are "playmakers" than MSU returns "playmakers" Fowler, Mumphry, Lippett and Burbridge and MSU has the better D and will be at home (or really, UM will be on the road, where Hoke is 1-5 vs teams with winning records).

    Advantage MSU

Except all of your returning WRs can't catch.

While I'm not counting on UM being a poor rushing team, I think it is fair to say that 2013 should be the biggest challenge to hit those marks since 2008. With potentially 4 OL leaving and UM's perennial phenom gone, it will be interesting to see how well UM rushes the ball, particularly early against ND.

MSU's passing attack garnered more yards per game than UM's in 2012 shrug

You mean a UM blog projected their #1 WR to have a sensational year catching the ball?

    You don't say coffee

I must have worded that wrong, there is no way you would take something out of context. The numbers they provided were taken from the games started by Gardner and projected over the entire season. If I remember correctly.

I'd take Burbridge over anyone on our WR core.

Gallon has looked good but he has his limitations.

Agreed all around. Burbridge looks like a plus player, I wouldn't say that about any other MSU WR. Gallon is also a plus player, but with his size, he is limited in some things.

Edit: Funchess looks to have the potential to he a plus player in the passing game for Michigan.

  • Izzo numbers vs. "The field" All 11 teams vs. Tom Izzo:

O.K., we all know Izzo numbers. We know what he's done. He's been here 17 years, this is his 18th. He's pretty much unmatched and a first ballot unanimous Hall of Fame coach. But since "the punch" and the Purdue idiots on this board, and Mr. Woodson on tBB board who claims we are not the "Premier" program in the big ten since Izzo has been here, I did a little Big Ten research on the NCAA tournament and the BTT championships.

I did something stupid. I put Izzo up against the whole field. Not individual teams in the big ten (that would be stupid he towers over every school with Wisconsin and OSU coming closest with half the amount of sweet 16's Izzo has had (10-5). So I decided to just say screw it, lets compare Izzo's numbers against all 11 teams in the big ten since he's been here. Jesus h. tap dancing mother of god. These are sick.

*Conference Championships: Izzo 7 The field 10 ( A losing record but damn, not bad)
*Big Ten Tourn. Champs Izzo 3 The field 10 ( some of you are saying 12 but Michigan and OSU vacated two Izzo still is tied with three for the lead)
*Sweet 16's: Izzo 10 The field 22 (OSU, Wis with five Ill with 4, Purdue with 3)
Elite 8's: Izzo 7 The field 5 (Jesus, the whole fricken field)
    Final 4's: Izzo 6 The field 5 (that's sick)
Championship games Izzo 2 the Field 3
Championships Izzo 1 The field 0

MSU is the premier team in this league. It's not close. 17 years. Wow.

Bama's special even for the SEC. They are like Miami and Nebraska in the 80s/90s and USC in the early 2000s. And Michigan over the next decade.

Yep. This is not very indicative of the SEC. Give Saban a full month to prepare, and he will give you the best team in the country. I believe that's been the case 4 years in a row.

First beat Texas for a title.
Then crushed MSU, and played better than the national champs.
    Then crushed LSU.
    Now is crushing ND.

I still believe that Texas wins if Colt Mccoy doesn't get hurt. The Alabama then was not as near as good as the Alabama now.

Think about this for a minute. Bama was up on Auburn something like 21-0 in 2010 and let Auburn come back and beat them (their only loss that year). If it hadn't been for that, this probably would be Bama's fourth NC in a row.

Oh, I definitely agree. That was only Saban's 2nd true recruiting class (his 3rd season as coach). Since then, the team has gotten consistently more and more talented. It's absurd, really.

They actually lost 3 games that year believe it or not

Michigan can't even win the b10, no way they top Alabama.

Hoke was a good coach to restore order at UofM but he's not going to win a Natty.

You're right. It will probably be like five or six NC'S. I just figured I would get that comment out of the way before someone else said it.

ND is also probably the weakest team to ever play in a national championship game. They almost lost to Purdue, BYU, and Pitt.
