You have to be at least somewhat good to win a NT. A NT isn't something you just accidentally stumble into.

We all should just give up on cope. Just surrender and let him think what he wants.

so are you saying he's good because he won a NT?

Yep. He will argue dumbass points all day long. Ignoring him and let him continue to let his stupid shine is funny enough.

There are better coaches, no doubt about that. But he isn't a bad HC.

Wags asked what his record was vs. MSU. I provided it. That's all. Then Woodson said we should ignore his ND tenure.

I know WHY you think Narduzzi is better. You are a Spartan fan. Opinion is opinion. But, I was trying to teather the opinions to reality. While someone might think that their girlfriend is hotter than a model, if it is clear that your friend is biased after checking her out.....well you have to point that out.

It's like we are in the late 1990s and you are saying Kerry Wood is better than Randy Johnson. Woods showed some good stuff as an up and comer, but had not proven he could repeat his success and had not done it in the playoffs. Wood did a lot on a bad team, but he only had a couple seasons of looking good. He didn't have the resume of someone who had been a top pitcher for years.

You might be excited about Narduzzi and think he has the POTENTIAL to be better than Mattison one day....but there is not way he is a better DC based on what we know now. Your opinion can differ, but it isn't based on much....and that reflects on the objectiveness of your other opinions too.

So then, what exactly do we base this "Mattison is an awesome DC" theory on? His '95 and '96 units at UM? His mediocre run at ND? He was co-DC at Florida, for what that's worth, so he does have a ring to his credit. Then he worked with the Ravens for a few years, inheriting one of the most talented defenses in the NFL . . . who took a step back in his last year, when his impact should be felt the most.

That leaves his most recent year at Michigan. His defense wasn't as good as Narduzzi's last year. So I don't think my opinion is that far out in left field.

I know WHY you're so persistent on this. You are a Michigan fan. The thought of Michigan State being better than Michigan at anything irritates you to no end. You hate MSU so much that you even put down the size of the video scoreboards. Remember that? "Don't get your hopes up, they're never as big as they look in the diagrams."

You're one of the last people to talk about objectivity. I stated it was my opinion. This somehow offends you. If you want to extrapolate one opinion on one subject to my objectiveness as a whole, go ahead. My opinion is that I'd take Narduzzi as a DC over Mattison right now. Could that change? Sure; it's an opinion. I'm not asking you to share it.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I feel like Mattison can only do so much this year on defense with the talent Michigan has available. I think Mattison does get the best out of who Michigan has on defense, but other defenses simply have more talented players. Hopefully this will start to change as future recruiting classes come in (feel free to bash me for predicting a better defense in the coming years based off of recruits who haven't played a snap or are still in high school lol).

Okay, that means the Bobby Williams and John L. Smith era don't count because they both sucked. We have a 5-0 game win streak against UofM.

    Go Green.

I think he plays and I have no problem with it if the coach doesn't either. We may make smartass comments back and forth to each other becasue of topics like this, but in the end the coaches are doing what best for the young men and for the program.

This is such a bad idea. If he plays it will reinforce the idea that there aren't consequences for your actions. That being said it would be a huge help and I hope he plays.

That's generally my thought. I don't really comment on player discipline, mostly because we don't know what the coaches know.

From a football perspective (which is really all I care about), it definitely helps Michigan's chances vs. Bama.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I firmly believe that there are consequences. Just because we don't see them, doesn't mean Fitz didn't have to deal with them. Same goes for almost every other coach and his program when dealing with the young men.

It is pretty funny though that the other year we had to endure tons of slams about Rucker and now both fan bases have reached a very level headed line of thought to this issue.

I think a lot of the Spartans (including those on the RCMB) have shown some considerable restraint.

I agree there are consequences, unfortunately I made my post sound way too simple. What I meant was more along the lines of the fact that if Fitz plays, people might get the wrong impression that certain players will play regardless of what they do and others won't. But I definitely agree that there have been consequences that only Michigan coaches/Fitz are privy to.

How else would you expect him to practice? Any punishment is not yet decided, so until then, prepare as if you were going to play, no? Personally, I hope he sits, but who knows what's really going to happen.

Some won't. I'd love for any "convert" to say, you know I slammed Dantonio for Rucker, but now maybe I see there are two three or four sides to consider in making these decisions. I don't think a wolverine will ever admit to slamming Dantonio or even Izzo for nix, I doubt a Spartan who is currently slamming Hoke will admit to defending Dantonio/Rucker. It is what it is and you are who you are.
