aaaaand so do you. Your new coach just put an MSU countdown clock in your practice facility. You know, the same thing that Dantonio got called out for by the UM fanbase. UM fans trash talk with State fans as much as they do with OSU fans. Why? Because we're just another game? Right.

whats so wrong with burning couches :) less effort than hauling them off to the dumpsters. Plus it makes for a nice bonfire. Gets pretty cold in Michigan.

Maybe so, but that's only true if the MSU players can stay out of jail. No more rushing dorms and beating the hell out of unwitting students and no more selling stolen laptops.

I have never ripped on coach Dantonio for the countdown clock it's a great idea. Hoke did it for the same reason it is a rivalry game. It is the second most important game we play. Um fans talk smack to state fans because they are insane and have permanent little man syndrome, they constantly compare themselves to us, and it will never stop

Honestly I can say I've only been here a few months and while I refuse to post on another schools board, out of respect of course and a lot of my friends don't follow these boards I often tell them if you were to put the msu and um fanbase in a room and played either fight song you'd have the biggest brawl ever. Now I absolutely hate msu hate hate hate, I live in Lansing and all my life have been a UM fan never went played ball but not D1 now in my experience yes UM fans are pompous and a little arrogant but I could not imagine if the shoe were on the other foot as far as out records go I won't call it what it is bragging rights but it is.... I've met Izzo he's alright I've met Dantonio he's not so cool, actually worked at a place where I got to know Lou Ann and Roy pretty well Lou ann okay as for Roy I think they have a gag order on him cause he's such an ass.... Knowing both fans and Spartans better living in a sea of green I have to tell you, msu has the most homers who absolutely have no clue about sports their teams history and will berate a UM fan for showing pride and school colors, the games are the worst going to um big party students of both schools party together that would never happen on msu's campus. So I've rambled enough but with all this bein said we both as fans should be able to have civil hate filled conversations and stop spewing garbage on a regular basis can't we? I love info when it's good and hate personal banter and bashing of eachother.

FWIW, I'm not the mod that booted you (or locked that thread) and I've had no problem with your posts on our board.

Also, that PM you got from an MSU poster . . . I'm 99% sure it was from a dude calling himself "Grim Reaper". His old SN was Tanfan, he had nearly 40,000 posts on our old board and existed to stir the pot. It was his schtick to call his group the "Demand Excellence" crowd; they were the ones calling for coaches' heads after every failed 3rd down conversion or every time the opponent made a FG. It made the board unbearable, there was no rational discussion and ANY hint of ANYTHING positive was met with wave after wave of "It's been 40+ years, we suck, keep blowing sunshine, MSU will never be good under this leadership, etc."

Myself and a few others told them that we'd have a good 2011 season, and were regularly laughed at. Now that things turned out our way, there hasn't been a peep out of them, save to post about their "concern" that Hoke is outrecruiting MSU. I put "concern" in quotes, because it's not a genuine concern on their part, just a way to flame. As an MSU fan, I have zero problem admitting that Hoke is recruiting up to the standards of Carr; take the best out of MI, then hit the rest of the country. One year of this I'm o.k. with, due to the circumstances of RichRod leaving and the university-wide support Hoke is receiving (recruits love to be part of returning an old power to glory). If, however, MSU has another strong year in 2011 and UM's dominance in recruiting continues in 2013, then I'll be legitimately concerned.

Anyways, I'd like to get this thread back on track; this is supposed to be for rational debate with minimal inflammatory comments from either side.

Don't ever expect any love from trcmb. Sparty fans will be treated the same on a Michigan board, right or wrong, that is the way it is.

What makes you believe you won't be absolutely smoked? You are in a brand new system that has very little depth. Brady Hoke could be Bo reincarnated and he still wouldn't be able to make your defense respectable in one off season. There are fundamental flaws in personnel right now that need time to be fixed.

He hasn't coached one game but a large chunk of your fan base seem to think the defense is WAY improved and your offense will be just as good as last year, even though your OC has said shotgun sets will be in the minority. If you remember last year, when we forced DRob to be a drop back passer and read a defense, he threw 3 picks.

What is your evidence, besides blind hope, that makes you believe you'll be able to compete at a B1G championship level? I agree you'll be improved, but MSU is definitely playing at a very high level.
