Did you watch the rest of the B10 play this weekend? We had a horrible first half against Alabama, but played much better in the second half. The only teams that arguably looked better than we did were OSU, UNL, Wisky, UI and Purdue ... and look at who they played. And only one is in our division. MSU struggled to put up 17 at home on BSU. If we can get 3 more points we will have put up the same number on Bama away from AA.

The reality is we've only seen game one for everyone. You shouldn't try to predict the entire season based on game one. But if that's what we're doing here (it certainly seems like what you're doing anyway), we look to be as good or better than any team in the B10 West.

MSU looked below average against Boise.

    UM looks abhorrent against Alabama.

While no team in the B1G looked good this weekend, to claim UM played better than any one of them is kind of foolish (barring PSU).

It's easier if you just predict the future based on recruiting class isn't it?

If you look at UM's recruiting class rankings over the past five years and compare them to Alabama's, you could have predicted the outcome of this game perfectly. If that was your point, I completely agree.

  • Just lost to 'bama, and I aint even mad. cool

We're on our way back. Just give it another year or 2.

I'm not using 2007 as proof that we'll succeed this year, but after losing to App St and Oregon, weren't people thinking the same thing about Michigan?

  • Embarrassing, fucking joke that we have stuck w DR at qb and putting DG at wr, instead of the opposite.

  • Yes, we got absolutely crushed tonight. I assumed we would lose but I definitely underestimated Alabama. I truly thought we would put up a better fight than we did even with the losses we had. It's a very dissappointing game but it's a reality check that we're simply not there yet. However, I still think we can compete for the big ten title and I have faith we'll still have a great season. Troll away. I'm going to enjoy the sorrow party.

Then merriweather needs to pay more attention to recruiting rankings He believed Vegas had the spread too high at 12. Heck now that you say it can be easily predicted using recruiting rankings, things will certainly start changing out there at the books.

Not an overreaction, anybody with half a brain knows that Devin is a better passer than denard. We wouldn't have achieved what we did last year, but we would be much further ahead than we are now. Its just common sense. Denard is a great athlete, just not a good qb. He is a RB/wr playing qb. If anyone can't admit that, they are in denial. There's a reason that we (RR) were the only big school to even give him a chance at playing qb. NOBODY else wanted him at qb and that's the only reason he came to Mich. He is an outstanding athlete, and more importantly, a great person. He is best suited to have the ball in open space, which would be best achieved by playing at wr or RB.

Everyone except the coaches apparently. Besides, Denard is more valuable because of his running ability.

I'm curious as to what makes you believe this is true? Do you have film? I'm not agreeing/disagreeing .. I'm just curious.

  • I expected to see Copemoney on here. The trolls must be sleeping Anyway, Michigan isn't on Alabama's level yet as we are 1 year removed from RR who's only leading Toledo by 3 points right now. We can still win the next 5 games before our matchup with you guys. The big ten just looks weak as hell with Iowa, and Wisconsin almost getting beat and PSU losing.

I've been saying for months that it's a sunbelt dominated sport and that USC, Alabama, LSU and so on just play football at much higher level than anyone in the rust belt. Everytime an b10 team plays one of those schools it's a complete thrashing. The only time it wasn't was when USC had Barkley as a frosh in the horseshoe but he still had enough to beat OSU at home n

I haven't seen anything that is going to change that trend any time soon.

Call Hoke and Borges. If they don't listen, write a letter to DB.

Denard led the team to 11 wins last year, still has at least 11 games to play this year. Michigan won't face a team as talented or well coached at Alabama for the rest of the year. Common sense tells me that Devin Gardner wouldn't have changed the outcome of this one game this year.

He is. Unfortunately, he is only better as a pocket passer, and while he might be netter on the run too, the kid becomes pretty clueless as to his progressions and where he is on the field. That hurts him big time. Mr Woodson, however, has said about 100 pages ago he's really improved in that aspect, so we'll have to see when he gets in. He can play on Sunday as a wideout. Just sayin. Hope I don't get yelled at again for suggesting it
