SEC basketball isn't really worth following lol

You have Kentucky... Florida, recently... and then you have a mash up of Miss State, Bama, and Arkansas.

Back in the mid to late 90's Kentucky and Arkansas went back and forth when Arkansas left the SWC and joined the SEC. We've had some pretty good players: Corliss Williamson, Joe Johnson, Ronnie Brewer, etc.

I hope our current coach, Mike Anderson (Nolan's number one assistant), can take us back to the glory days lol.

Loved those "90 feet of hell" teams under Nolan.

Part of me wants to put on my tinfoil hat and say that Calipari is paying recruits...unfortunately I have no evidence of that.

Calpari has cheated everywhere. I have no reason to think he stopped now.

I don't remember it being called that. Only the 40 minutes of hell that someone else mentioned.

Also, shouldn't it be 94 feet?

Ronnie Brewer was at Arkansas? I thought he was at Florida on those teams that won national championships with Joakim Noah and co?

edit: that was Corey Brewer, my bad. Jesus that team was so good.

MSU was probably #1 a couple weeks ago, but judging by his recent tweets about OSU, and the "change at the top" i'm just guessing that means OSU jumped ahead of MSU.

I don't know too much about UConn; I have a hard time getting into college hoops until football season is over. Can someone enlighten me?

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I don't really care either. We still have 4 OL with offers from Alabama, USC where they have guys with offers from Toledo.

    Brain,

I asked a few bball questions for you a few pages back.

Do you think that program will stay dominant or do you think it had more to do with Calhoun? They will prob still pull top talent from the NYC area unless those players decide to go to Syracuse now.

Im with you. The minute the NC football game is over, I'll check to see how everyone is doing. I don't think I've ever watched a full college Bball game unless it's MSU in march or I'm actuall there.

Didn't see that. I think it had alot to do with Calhoun, and they'll need a pretty good coach to replace him to stay a dominant program. UConn will spend big money to get a big name, but what's really out there? They took a step back last year when Calhoun was out with medical issues, that team was a mess even with the talent they had (2 lottery picks, and another probable future lottery pick). Their new coach is one of Calhoun's guys, so we'd have to see what he can do. He could be like Izzo was coming in right after Jud, but if he isn't i dont see UConn being good.

Yea. I'll watch MSU's big games in Nov/Dec, though sometimes it's hard since I'm on Central time. Those 7 p.m. EST starts are brutal; I've got a 35-40 minute commute from my Apt. to the office and getting off at 5 p.m. is a pretty darn rare occurrence.

The East Jesus West Kentucky slaughters in the Breslin? Yea, if I can catch it, I'll watch it.

Football question for the thread; what does everyone think about the new KR rules?

I thought they would completely gut kick returns but I'm happy to see that you can still get some big returns.

I try and watch or listen to every Michigan BB game. I have my DVR set to record every game for the times when I can't catch the game for some reason.

I would like to see the data that shows the touchback now vs before, TDs now vs before, starting position now vs before, and the big one is injuries now vs before.

It's been bubbling under the surface for awhile and finally boiled over. I think we all understand guys like Helwagen and Kurelic have a job to do (a job that requires them to spoonfeed the Nuts with biased and rosy info favorable to Ohio), but it's insulting when they start taking that same crap and repackaging it as if it is an unbiased view of the B10 or CFB in general. Some writers on 247 seem to be able to put their biases and "other jobs" aside when necessary and give straightforward info that is useful to all of us. Steve Wiltfong does that. I believe he's a ND guy but when he writes for the site as a whole you would barely know it. Todd Worly is an Iowa guy but he is also now a staff writer on the Michigan board and you never hear a single complaint. He does a fantastic job. Helwagen and Kurelic don't even try to do that. So increasingly they get mocked. Sorry, but if they want people to take them seriously and view their work as unbiased, then they have to begin acting seriously and putting out an unbiased product. People are not idiots. People are simply judging them on the quality (or lack thereof) of their work. No more and no less.

Well said and spot on. Steve, Todd, and Clint give great unbiased opinions on our site. Steve and Todd do that across the system.

Just read a few articles on UConn.

Big question is it in the DNA of UConn to be a basketball power house or was it all based on Calhoun.

From every thing I've read I think UConn will continue to recruit well in the East Coast. Expectations are low this year from a very demanding fan base as well. Now we'll just have to find out if he's the man to steer the ship.

I don't know anything about UConn, but if you coupled the Men's and Women's prestige, I would think that they have great facilities and a large recruiting base to pull from. They are an established powerhouse.

The east coast is just loaded with lottery pick level NBA talent. IMO it's either going to be Syracuse or UConn pulling them in.
