Due, let's say your daughters boyfriend lettered at MSU in football next year. How would you handle that?

I'd bust his balls every chance I got. And every time he'd visit, he'd have to endure a house full of Michigan. And I'd laugh.

MSU isn't a very good football program.. takes year of consistent winning to get to that level. - copemoney 1/22/13

Especially cause he couldn't talk any football that you couldn't put back in his face.

I'd been hearing for a couple of weeks that Ted Gill would not be retained for the 2013 season. This was not unexpected and the word was already out. That's why MSU made the announcement sooner rather than later so the staff could contact recruits to advise them of the situation. Gill hadn't made any recruiting trips for quite awhile and this became a major issue. Recruiting has become a fast track situation now and Gill just didn't want to travel anymore and it was a mutual decision between coach D and him.

    There you go, then.

Most hockey players think that the OHL route is the better route to go pro. Although that affects all programs and not just Michigan and MSU.

One of our teams always was a threat. We suck this year.

A kid I coached last year got a visit from one of the State coaches last week. He's a great kid who I pray gets a ride to State, or anywhere for that matter. I love the kid, but he knows where I stand.

Totally understand. And you'd be proud and defend him no matter where he played.

He will end up at OSU. They are desperate for OT and he's right in their backyard.

If they're so desperate, then why did they wait so long to offer Trout?

Everything I've read says Trout was disappointed by tOSU waiting to offer. CBD has almost suggested that Trout may have been too turned off by OSU to end up there. Should be a good battle between MSU and OSU.

I hope he goes to MSU. I want Urban to have serious problems down the line with his OL while we are getting 10 yards per carry.

Trout's profile doesn't read as the MSU lock it did a few weeks ago.

I'd be willing to bet hefty sums of money that this was Kurelic's doing. I so wish he wasn't writing articles for MSU, and therefore pseudo-representing MSU with recruits.

Wouldn't be even a little surprised if he framed his questions in a way that makes it seem ludicrous that anyone should ever pick MSU over OSU. In fact, I would almost be surprised if his coverage didn't have at least a slightly negative effect on recruiting. I'm not sure, but I don't believe he has provided "long-term coverage" on a single player committed to MSU. Despite several of them having named MSU as their leader.

I was surprised to see the "warmer" indicator on Trout's page. Based off of what cbd has said in the past I was partially surprised but at the same time I know the analyst can change those levels and I wouldn't put it past Kurelic. He has given you guys some heavy tOSU leaning stories in the last few weeks. It is a joke that he is considered an analyst for MSU and his avatar has him holding tOSU items.

Agree, but I will be shocked if that's how it plays out. Trout grew up an OSU fan. He is not going to turn them down simply because he wanted the offer a couple of months earlier than he received it. It is January of 2013. 2014 NSD is more than a year away.

Not 100% sure. Urban is a grade A sleazeball and there are some (few) kids who can see through it. While OSU is no doubt going to be very appealing for him, I think MSU will still have a decent chance.

    Good haul for MSU.

It is something else that Michigan has 10 commits rated higher than the highest rated MSU commit.

Could have sworn I've heard something like that before..

    Oh yea...

    Can't hurt.

A name floating around for MSU's next DL coach is Tom Sims who is DL coach and Assistant HC at Youngstown State.

Played DT for 7 seasons in the NFL.
Coached DL for Minnesota, Kansas, and Illinois.

Strong OH ties and incidentally, he's a Cass Tech alum.

Why do you think that professional and college are the same? Always the same argument from the HS dropouts who root for um.

I will never get how fans can get so emotionally invested in a college that they didn't attend.

There's also some rumors in Columbus that Dantonio has talked to Vrabel. I think it'd be a huge long shot, but I guess it's worth a try...

The only way we get Vrabel is if he's promised the DC gig in a year or two. Even then, i'd say its a huge longshot
