Well then it's a good thing Bollman isn't actually calling the plays for MSU then huh.. and didn't OSU throw up like 30+ against UM the one year he did call the plays?

And what does NFL production have to do with college production? The two are not correlated

If Bollman can get us 30+ points on them and Narduzzi holds them to 12 points we win.

Did you hire Tressel as well because without Tressel he is 0-1 against Michigan.

Looks to me the issue wasn't Bollman that game, that one was on Fickell.

You think Nard dog has figured out UM?

UM point totals vs. MSU since 2004:

    2004: 45
    2005: 34
    2006: 31
    2007: 28
    2008: 21
    2009: 20
    2010: 17
    2011: 14
    2012: 12

They didn't have much college production either. I believe he got commitments from 3 5 star OL in one class Michael Brewster, J.B. Shugarts, and Mike Adams, and they all busted. He doesn't seem like he's able to develop OL talent or scout them. He also doesn't like recruiting which is a bad combination for a team that already doesn't recruit well.

Bollman is a proven winner against Michigan. I like our chances.

    Did tOSU rehire him?

I don't see Kirk Cousins taking snaps next year for MSU. A ton has changed personal wise (as is always the case in college sports) and in with the coaching staff. More questions than answers right now.

You wouldn't have seen Kirk Cousins after the 2009 season either.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, just that you not thinking it will means nothing.

Yeah, there are a lot of variables that make it easier to beat Michigan at Ohio State. You can't put Nick Saban in Ypsilanti and expect EMU to beat Michigan.

It had to do more with Tressel and his domination Lloyd Carr during end of the Carr era. When Tressel left and Bollman actually had to call plays he sucked. None of Ohio's OL have done well in the NFL.

Of course, BOLLMAN WON'T BE CALLING PLAYS AT MSU.

Are you serious right now? Are you even a real person?

Tressel is better at calling plays than Dantonio and had better athletes at Ohio.

I'm just saying that you're precluding it from the realm of possibility. You won't believe MSU improving on offense until you see it, which means evidence to the contrary means nothing to you until the offense finishes a season.

Not at all. I can see them improving. Maxwell will be a 5th year senior, which usually is a good thing. If he gets beat out, then that should be considered an improvement over last year. The WR are all back, that is a good thing. Plenty of oline experience returns. That should be good, especially if they stay healthy.

The big negatives is no RB, when RB is usually the easiest to find an adequate replacement, and no TE.

The bottom line right now though is that everything is a question mark, including the coaching staff.

I am not trying to flame here, just saying how I see it. This thread was decent once, not so much recently.

No TE is inaccurate, as Gleichert was arguably MSU's best all around TE last year, and he is returning this year. The 2nd TE is a question mark, but I don't see it being worse off than last year, barring injury issues.

With regards to Maxwell, a players greatest improvement is almost always made between their first and second year as a starter. While I don't expect Maxwell to light it up, him coming back after a full offseason with better defined WR should greatly improve them as a unit. If Maxwell is passed, then it will definitely mean an improvement, as you suggest.

As for the thread, I anticipate it will get better when Rocky comes back, and then even better still when fall camp starts up.

We'll have one stacked team in 2014 though. We'll only lose at a most 3 defensive players, Lewan and Schofield, Toussaint, and Gallon.

Hoke and Mattison going to the NFL too.

Is Warner calling the plays. Didn't he produce the disaster that was Andrew Maxwell last season.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Gleichert had 1 catch last year. That is his only career catch. Sounds like a blocking TE, not arguably best all-around TE. Sounds like a stretch to me, but you know more about the team than I do.

I expect improvement from Maxwell, but he will be working under his 3rd OC over the last 4 years. He should have the maturity to handle it though.

I talked to Rocky. I will be trying to take a break from the thread a couple of weeks after the spring games. Won't be much to talk about between the programs until fall practice starts up.

Maxwell has great tools, but the more I watched last year, the more I believed he just didn't have "it". Team stepped it up in the bowl last year when we replaced him, not because we did it with a quarterback that could sling it better but because the offensive huddle had more snap to it. Just watch the film. I don't think Max can grab a receiver by the mask and "Faulk ewe" him when he needs to. I bet the kid will be massively successful but I think he's better as a conservative security blanket on the sideline. Knowing we can replace a young gunslinger with balls and a swag if the game gets ahead of him with a guy that can calm things down is a pretty good thing sometimes. Let's see how that plays out.
