The Official Michigan, MSU, and 1 Random Guy from Arky Thread

It'll take a great effort by more than Burke and one other guy to win in Breslin. There's no doubt about it. Anyone who thinks Michigan waltzes in there and comes out with an easy win (Green or no Green) is just stirring the pot.

I agree. Reports are he is walking fine, no crutches, etc, so it seems very likely he plays. But either way it will be a tough game and the score will be close. Sparty fans are crazy if they think this game's gonna be a gimmee if Green plays or because it is at the Breslin. They thought that last year too.

Ironic, because we all feel the same way about Sparty.

Best the best part is we back it up with, you know factual statements and relevant answers, where you talk about "stars" and how you were a super swell team in the 20's.

I dunno who said what, but it's obvious Spartans stand a much better chance of beating Michigan with Draymond. Saying otherwise is absurd.

Injuries are a part of sports, but I truly hope Green plays and is close to, if not full strength. It just way sweeter beating a team when they are at their best. Beating Green at Breslin after what he said I'm sure is giving the team some motivation.

Even without him though it's going to be a tough tough game to win. Izzo going to have the kids ready to go, and you know Breslin will be rocking.

And therein lies the Spartan fall back delusion.
You don't remember 2006? We were undefeated and #2 playing Ohio State for a spot in the National Championship Game game.
You don't remember 2007? We started off with the two worst losses in history, then went on to beat Sparty for the 6th straight year and beat Florida/Meyer/Tebow in the bowl game.
You don't remember 2011 when we went 11-2 with a bowl victory in our coaches first year on the job with a team that had produced the worst 3 year stretch in Michigan history?

Your definition of "the 20s" is delusion.

  • I am not saying you used it as an excuse. My point to Neoavatar was that we can't start worrying about who is going to be making excuses.

Denard never missed a full game, but he has played hurt.

I do remember the stuff that happened in 2006, you know, six years ago. That was great and everything (you lost, thats why it was great). I also remembered how we manhandled you in that glorious 2011 season, you know the game where your AD complained that "we play that football too rough!", yet you say you had the better season finishing behind us. Also how you and VaTech were picked in the Sugar Bowl "all because of merit, definitely not money".

Let me point out more delusion and non-factual statement from you:

Please find where I said "we had a better season" this past year.

    I'll wait.

2007 was a great game, sucked to lose it but thank god Dantonio made this rivalry fun again.

I'm not saying you specifically, I should have generalized it more to include your fan base as a whole. But thats just what it is, it is a generalized thought from your fan base that you had a better season.

I think one Big Ten Championship and one big bowl game every 30 years gives you the right to laugh off other teams recent high rankings. I am guessing Sparty feels Dantonio earned them decades worth of respect with that one Big Ten Chmapionship!

It's a generalized thought that we had a good season. Anyone who said we had a better season than MSU was obviously trying to fan the flames. Obviously it worked.

We may not be willing to admit it, but MSU has flourished under MD. Not one of us likes him, but then again, how many Spartan fans like Hoke? Or Beilein? Or anyone associated with Michigan?

It's all part of the rivalry. And delusion, whether you want to embrace it or not, is equal on both sides of the fence.

IMO he's done a great job, and he has us on the right track to be competitive in the B1G. Would you disagree with that?

No the people I talk to (you know, when your not on a message board) truly believe Michigan is the better team. I do agree with you that there are delusional fans at Michigan State, Eastern, and Albion College.

Although I would say, and many would agree there is a special type of delusion at Michigan just like at ND (although they are finally realizing where their program truly stands).

About half of the college coaches and college football writers felt Michigan had the better season. By that fact alone, it is widely-supported sentiment. Sorry Sparty fan.

He's done better than I think anyone could have anticipated. Everything went right for him:
a 2star QB turns into the best QB in school's history
    Gadget plays go right
Scheduling worked in their favor (there's no denying it - just like Michigan in '11)
The defense plays as well as anyone in the conference
and whether you want to acknowledge it or not, Michigan hires the wrong guy and turns the program on it's ear.

Now he's got that program and fanbase believing they can contend. And they will. But the question is, for how long? And I don't mean that in a flammatory way. I worry about Hoke and Mattison the same way. MD has heart problems. Hoke has weight issues. Mattison isn't a spring chicken.

You have no way of proving this at all, and it could just as easily be not true.

The only people that would agree with this is MSU and OSU fans, that's about it.

No, but I would disagree with the fact that the Spartans deserve all sorts of respect nationally. Facts are you have dominated the B1G when it has been down.

But the Spartans have won 1 bowl game under Dantonio, and are still shaky in big road games.

Dantonio has been a great addition to MSU and is by all accounts a great coach, but don't cry when MSU gets less respect nationally then UM, you haven't earned that respect just by beating Michigan 4 times.
