Victory for MSU said...
I'm sorry to hear about your family. I couldn't imagine having to go thru something like that at that age.
Yes, in my opinion, the only record that matters is the record for when you went to school and since you've graduated. Up to that point you are simply choosing a school to cheer for. I could choose to be an Alabama fan and brag about their national championships.
No, I did not play for MSU
No, I don't get extra points for being an alum. I get the benefit of having UM fans talk shit about my university when their primary affiliation with the school is liking their colors.
If you really wanted, I could get you my transcript. I can't imagine you care this much.
See above as to why this matters.

You should go back and look at Michigan State's opponents, which include Chicago YMCA (1928), Wayne St.(1937), Grinnel (multiple years), Hillsdale, (multiple), Adrian (multiple), Carnegie Tech, Manhattan, and Cornell......of Iowa.
Seems to me, the argument always goes like this: S: 3-0 over Michigan in the last 3 years. M: 3-0 vs. Rich Rod* fixed it S: Most of Michigan's wins came before WWII against teams like Alma. M: State played Chicago YMCA, and all the others from back then are included in your historical win/loss totals. S: Walmart Wolverine. M: Little brother.
You guys constantly cherry pick Ws and Ls. You should be used to it.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I'm making a plea to both sides to end that BS. Keep the historical records and whatever streak the current teams are on (Feel free to bring up 6-0 in the middle of that streak, we should be ok to bring up 3-0). The rest is just cherry picking and the debate devolves as you pointed out.
Back on the field/recruiting. . .
1) Huge props on Pipkins. We wanted him bad. I hope this gives State a great shot with O'Brien, though I know he's a 3-tech (Godin moving inside?)
2) Special Teams issues would have been more at the forefront if your D wasn't as bad as it was last year. Not having a proven P through the first 4 games can be a problem, especially vs. ND. You never know if a kid's got ice-water in his veins until he lines up for a big K/P. I've seen some frosh do great, and others face-plant. Just don't know, but that's now another unknown (at least for the first 4 games).

Sooo . . . first fall camp reports are coming in. MSU's starting DL now looks like this:
WDE: Soph. Will Gholston, 6'7 283,
DT: RS JR. Jerel Worthy, 6'3 310
NT: RS JR. Anthony Rashad White, 6'2 316
SDE: RS JR. Tyler Hoover, 6'7 290
Other than Worthy, the DL hasn't shown a ton (Hoover had a couple good games last year), but that's a pretty intimidating look. Average weight is 299.75.
.
I have no idea if they'll live up to the hype that seems to be building around them, but that's the biggest college DL I've seen in a while.

There's the potential for that to happen with the DL but the coaches all seem to be working in unison, something the last staff really struggled with.
RE Stonum: If there was one position we could have afforded to lose someone it's at WR. The drop off there should be minimal with Hemingway, Roundtree, Odoms and the other WRs to fill the void.

Yeah hopefully Dileo can return punts/actually field them because that part of our return game has been horrendous.

RE: Returning kicks - I think Hayes will got a shot too. He could be an explosive returnman IMO
This whole not being able to quote at work is really getting annoying.. Sorry that it's not easy to follow
