I do not see why anyone responds to him. He is clearly just trying to troll in this thread, over and over and over again. That is his only purpose. I think he has admitted as such.

I tried, it doesn't matter to him. He'll still fish some guys, but he has made it clear, there is no civil conversation with him.

Yep. Peyton Manning was a great college QB because he had an elite arm and was at least serviceable outside of the pocket. Denard is the opposite. It just so happens that the NFL is more friendly to Peyton's situation. It's not a slam on Denard it's just how the leauge is built.

Was Eric Crouch a good college QB? How about Tim Tebow? Tony Rice? None were very good passers, but all got the job done. Denard is a one man wrecking crew on offense. He put up 40 points last year on an OSU team that you could only muster 13 points against. He did the same to ND and Nebraska. If he had a decent defense in 2010, he might have won the Heisman. The laughable thing about this entire discussion is Sparty fanboys trying to tell us what good QB play looks like. You have never had an elite QB in your history.

No he wouldn't have. He played awful against real defenses

It's a purely hypothetical question, because he had the 110th ranked defense in the country. You don't know how many of his "mistakes" might have been avoided if we weren't forced into a shootout virtually every game.

Lol, I'm agreeing with you guys that he's a good college QB. You seriously are the worst UM poster in this thread.

I see this thread is 7 pages longer than when I left to hit some golf balls so I'm sure this response will be out of place in between bickering posts but oh well.

What exactly does baseline of 8 wins average each year mean? Personally I'm hoping we never win less than 8 games. Maybe win 7 once in the next 10-15 years. If you think we average 8 wins, you think MSU wins 5 games multiple times to offset these 11 win years? Or do you just think MSU won't win more than 9 in the next decade...

Edit- congrats to Maize&Blue21 for creating those 7 pages of bullshit.

I mean that will be the average. I called it baseline because I am not taking into account post-season games.

I think the vasy majority of years it will be between 7-9 wins. I see 10 to 12 wins about as often as I expect to see 6 to 4 wins. Rarely.

Solid team year in and out.

That is a pretty good result (better than most teams) considering being in a "power conference" and the recruits available.

OSU is playing some pretty tough D, but Illinois can't hit anything and they virtually letting OSU walk up to the basket and score. It's 28 to 8 right now. Still 10 minutes in the first half.

  • Any Tigers fans in here? Spring training has begun and only a few guys are missing so far but they have 2 days left to report. Can't wait to see the Motown Mashers in action. Also I believe Brennan Boesch is going to go on a rampage this year and hit 25-30 Homers.

5, counting Anderson at FB as a 2-star (Walk-on). It was mostly a 3-star roster last season; Gholston being a 5-star brought the "Star Average" for the whole team's starting line-up to 3-stars even.

I'm going to use the year-end starters; at the beginning of the year it was 4-star Burkland at RT (injured vs. ND in game 3) and 4-star Rock Baker starting (lost his job after the Wisky game, Bell started the final 7 so I gave him the starting nod in this line-up).

I went with a 2 - WR, TE, FB, RB at the skill positions. Part of it is because that's MSU's base O, and the other part of it is that I didn't know how to count Nichol as a WR. He's a 4-star recruit, but based on his QB ability. Don't know how you count that

Using Rivals just for continuity (and because 247 doesn't go back to 2007 )

    Offense

    QB: Cousins - 3 star RB: Bell - 2 star FB: Anderson - Walk-on WR: Cunningham - 3 star WR: Martin - 3 star TE: Linthicum - 3 star LT: France - 3 star LG: Foreman - 2 star C: Jackson - 3 star RG: McDonal - 3 star RT: Fonoti - 3 star

    Defense

DE: Gholston - 5 star DT: Worthy - 3 star NT: White - 3 star DE: Rush - 3 star WILL: Norman - 4 star MIKE: Bullough - 4 star SAM: Allen - 3 star BCB: Dennard - 2 star FS: Robinson - 2 star SS: Lewis - 4 star FCB: Adams - 3 star

    Starting line-up: 1 5-star, 3 4-stars, 13 3-stars, 4 2-stars, 1 walk-on

I said I would look it up and give Michigan Starting lineup for last year. In before the Nigel derail. This may surprise MSU fans, but there were more 3* or less starters last year than 4* or great on Michigan's squad. Putting Countess in at CB would bump up one 4* while taking away a 3*, but Nigel and Phil Steele don't think that is right.

    QB: Robinson - 4 Star
    RB: Toussaint - 4 Star
    FB: Hopkins - 3 Star
    WR: Hemingway - 3 Star
    WR: Roundtree - 4 Star
    TE: Koger - 4 Star
    LT: Lewan - 4 Star
    LG: Barnum/Schofield - 4 Star
    C: Molk - 3 Star
    RG: Omameh - 2 Star
    RT: Hyuge - 3 Star

    Defense

    SDE: Heinenger - Walk on
    DT: Martin - 4 Star
DT: Van Bergen - 4 Star
    WDE: Roh - 4 Star
    SLB: Ryan - 3 Star
    MLB: Demens - 4 Star
    WLB: Morgan - 3 Star
    CB: Floyd - 3 Star
    CB: Woolfolk - 3 Star
    S: Kovacs - Walk on
    S: Gordon - 3 Star

    Starting Lineup:
    0, 5 Stars
    10, 4 Stars
    9, 3 Stars
    1, 2 Star
    2, Walk ons
